I emailed Donek Tools. They gave replied and they are willing to assist in working on a best practice tutorial for F360 to generate proper corner actions g-code for their drag knife based off some of the info I’ve pieced together from various sources.

Stay tuned!

Donek Drag knife best practices

So I recently got a hold of a Donek D2 drag knife. It's pretty sweet but I still have some things to figure out. I'm using Fusion 360 to set up the tool paths. F360 does not have native drag knife support so I have to use multiple steps to get the correct corner actions added to the code. I know the...

The only time I have seen this happen is if I did not put enough glue on the teeth. I generally put a small dab on every 3rd tooth.

CA glue can go bad with time, shelf life is generally about a year.

I’m in the design phase of a 5 point asymmetrical sidecut, rocker tip/tail similar to the K2 Marksman. I might have it ready to ski by New Years, but I have to get the last few customer pairs done first.

I always remember “warp out. In case some don’t get this reference the warp fibers are the 0 deg and the weft fibers are the diagonal fibers. Placing the warp farther away from the core increases its effectiveness. The numbers quoted above about making things stiffer depending which way the f...

For what purpose?

If it is screen printing, regular epoxy is probably too runny and won't give you a sharp print.

Welcome back! I think the 8 oz carbon plus a balsa core sounds interesting. It think it is tough to gauge core thickness with this for me at least. I'd go with not 1 layer of carbon. Id also error on th side of a soft ski, too stiff is worse than too soft I think.

I really like a mix of glass and carbon. Glass for that smoother damp ride and a little carbon for just a little added pop.

I personally love the tip rocker-camber-tail flare profile. I think it is the most versatile and makes a good do everything camber profile.

My buddy that used to work for burton told me they use a similar hot melt for sidewalls. So far no response from 3m as far as a sample goes. This can only be bought in bulk of 11 or 22 lbs and it’s pricey. I’ll try them again and see if I can get my hands on a stick or two.

Once I have seen a video of a guy hotglueing a longboardcore form woodstrips for vacuuminfusion. There was always a little gap between the strips so that the epoxy could flow in between. Maybe this is the way they do it in the industry? Just a few dots of hotglue, the rest is done by the epoxy? Pre...
