I use paper bakelit as base, same stuff as electonic circuit board are made of, but thicker. Working temp 120°C, and no epoxy sticking to it. Very good

@chrismp: Do you have the 0.5mm or 1mm foil? And is there a pic of your press in action somewhere? Thanks! My experience: Don't go under 1mm. I use 1.5mm. And use silicone not rubber. Rubber will dry out when using heat and as said before it can't take as much heat as silicone. And try to find some...

When I have my tip and tail molds done in CNC(outsourced.. :) ) they are done, spread out, on a full MDF. Only that they are not cut all the way thru leaving 2mm for me to cut out with a jigsaw and finish it with a table router(a shaper that is in my case).
Perfect fit! Every time! :D

I'm with MM, my Wintersteiger snb60 came with Norton 100 grit belts and takes about 20min to make two skis ready for the stone. And one other thing for the flatness, don't forget to rabbet the core alt. fill the gap with something(not necessary fiber, unless you know what you're doing)...otherwise t...
