Here it is: http://www.skibuilders.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=45280#45280 Direct link to the GitHub repo: https://github.com/mikemag/snoCAD-X I'll work on getting binaries up this weekend, and make the docs a bit more accessible. After that I'll start looking at using MonkeyCAM to generate G-Code ri...

snoCAD-X -- free, open source ski and snowboard CAD

This post contains the current status of snoCAD-X and will be kept up to date. Last updated for v1.0.7.b. snoCAD-X is an open source CAD program for designing skis and snowboards. It was written by Dan Graf of Graf Snowboards in 2007 and has been widely used since then. It has been open sourced in o...

Thanks for the awesome post Rich, and also for bringing Dan and me together. Your enthusiasm for MonkeyCAM and SnoCAD-X has been really motivating for me! I have the SnoCAD-X source direct from Dan and it seems to be working well. I have some basic work to do to get us setup on GitHub and the code o...

Yea, looking thru the rather stunning array of hole patterns it looks like it would be rare someone would want to use t-nuts. I'm gonna ensure MonkeyCAM can avoid cluttering up things with inserts when they're not necessary, and make sure we can mark the narrowest point as well as the center of the ...

This happens to me, too, both with the CDW edges and the ones from Metall Deutsch. I've always kept them in a PVC tube sealed at both ends, with desiccant inside. They still rust a bit over time. Honestly, I select the edges for each layup based on which ones have the least amount of rust on them :)...

Heh, there's a basic terminology difference here which I think has confused things. For snowboards, we call these things "inserts" but they're really T-nuts built into the board. I agree this is confusing, and I honestly have no idea why we call them inserts in the snowboarding world :) As...

Ski binding mounting, inserts or drill?

I haven't paid too much attention to ski bindings over the years, so I want to ask: How many people go through the effort to include inserts in skis for their bindings vs. how many people just drill and mount as usual afterwards? The one pair of skis I made we did classic drill & mount afterward...

License key invalid. If you're interested in open sourcing this stuff, integrating it with MonkeyCAM (https://github.com/mikemag/MonkeyCAM) would be trivial, and we could spit out the results right along with the G-Code programs and shape overviews based on a full, accurate core profile :) We could ...

Also, if there's something you'd like to see added to the new overview, like a helpful dimension, different/additional comparison shapes, etc. just gimme a shout here or via an issue on GitHub. I'm happy to improve it and generally find a little time to work on it each weekend these days.

v4.0.3 has dropped: https://github.com/mikemag/MonkeyCAM/releases/tag/v4.0.3 This includes a few fixes (inserts were slightly off), but the big change is that I now generate a HTML overview in addition to the G-Code programs. This is a single HTML file which stands alone and can be copied/sent where...

I originally left the extra wood on the sides because of the way I hold my work down, which you can see in that picture. Still haven't gotten around to building a vacuum table. However, the main value in the wood left on the sides is you get a free, precise clamping caul. If I ever do build a vacuum...

Alright, first version of all docs are done. Lemme know where things seem unclear, or pictures or video would be helpful.

User's Guide overview
G-Code Program Guide
Configuration Guide -- every board and machine parameter documented.

Docs will be dropping all weekend here: https://github.com/mikemag/MonkeyCAM/bl ... s_Guide.md Obviously incomplete right now, but you'll see as I fill various parts in where it's headed. Feel free to shout if there's something unclear or missing.

Well, at long last, the Windows version is available: https://github.com/mikemag/MonkeyCAM/releases/tag/v4.0.2 Docs coming soon, hopefully this weekend. It's not at all clear what all the parameters in the board and machine defs do, I know. I'll start by documenting what's there and how to generate ...

Nice work. I'm a big fan of a consistent width stringer on the outside of the cores as well.
