Oh that is awesome. $50 is a bit steep for one 6" wide board though. I'll keep a look out for some more Paulownia sources

So if the cypress is surrounded by harder wood (i.e. sidewall/ binding stringers) it may act ok.

Is there a paulownia source in the US anyone has used? Has anyone up here used it. I have researched online and couldn't find a good source.

Does anyone know how Cypress does for binding retention?

I was thinking of a cypress core with exotic wood sidewall.

What are your thoughts

Wood Sidewalls

Of those who are using wood sidewalls, what are you using? Waterproof wood, or something cheaper and then covering in poly? I am looking for a good wood to use for sidewalls and not finding many results. I know Ski Logik uses Black Locust, Is there anything that is comparable and easy to find and bu...

Hi all. I tried the washer method and came up with some skinny washers that were too small for the edge to fit in between. Did anyone else use any spacers or run into the same problem. I then decided to try fender washers and 1/2 washers, to see if that would give me the right height. Does anyone ha...

Those of you who have used Tile Nippers, Are you still using them? Or should I save for a real edge bender?

I made the job way to hard for my first pair. Now I am looking at different radius tips, and need versatility.
Thanks

Volkl metal topsheets

I'm sure this has been discussed on here before, but Volkl Mantra/ Katana... a few others has the metal as the topsheet with the graphics on the metal. Does anyone know how they do this, or if they just run it through a screen printer or wha'ever. I have not thought about using metal in my skis yet,...

I found that tutorial. I think making more contact points on the ellipse will enable a good shape.

Routering sidewall with a bell bit.

Has anyone routered the sidewall of their ski with a bell bit? As to try and eliminate as much chipping?

My thought was "if the sidewall is rounded into the topsheet, edges might not chip and break it as easily"

Any thoughts?

Black Locust

Does anyone know of a dealer of Black Locust lumber that ships small quantities? I know SkiLogik uses it as sidewall, and it looks super cool. Also, does anyone know about Paulownia dealers?

Has anyone thought of building one like Folsom Custom Skis' press?

They have a clamshell design that opens and closes at one end, making it very accessible when putting all the crap in. The only reason I ask, is I think its a great idea, and I'm curious what all goes into that machine.
