Re: The Culling -- inactive user cleanup is coming March 2019
The deed is done. All users who were last active before 2017/01/01 and who never posted are gone. The user count went from 3310 to 1738, so 52.5% of users survived the culling. I feel like I should do a few more so I can be full-on Thanos good.

Re: side wall delamination
Here's a pic I took 10 min ago for you man. This came off my CNC machine fine, but somewhere along the way I knocked it in the shop and part of it popped off. It's a thin zone, and it's delicate, so yea, it happens. I'll give the last 1" or so a little hit with some 80grit, spread some glue, an...

Re: side wall delamination
If it's come loose a few inches at the end it's not a big deal. It happens to me now and then. Just carefully work a little glue in there and put some tape on it overnight, then be careful with it until it's time to layup. The sidewall just needs to be held in place until you laminate the board; the...

Re: Doing things on the cheap
Nicely done, and a great writeup!! I love it. For bonding the sidewalls to the core: sand and flame treat the bonding surface, just like you would for the top and bottom before final lamination. I do this, and use Polyurethane glue and it holds my sidewalls to the core quite well. I've got a little ...

Re: How Long To Press Skis with No Heat
Indeed you should look a the specs for your epoxy. It should list a cure time and a given temperature. Take careful note of "pot life" as well. You'll be spreading the epoxy into a thin film, which will slow it down. If you have no heat, and are in, say, an unheated garage, then I'd say th...

The Culling -- inactive user cleanup is coming March 2019
To quote Kam from http://www.skibuilders.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=5381: We will be pruning the membership list since there are lots of spambots amongst the group. So, if you haven't logged-in in a long time AND also have not made a post, then you'll most likely be removed from the members...

Re: Tip/tail Spacer Info
Kelvin, one of the SkiBuilders founders, runs Maiden Skis out in Jackson Hole (https://maidenskis.com/) and is a generally cool guy. His shop is amazing, and he sources good material and does small sales. Check out his supplies site, which for some reason goes by a different name: http://www.blanksl...

Re: Happy Monkey's process
My cores are poplar with 2cm ash edge stringers, and then PTEX sidewalls, so the last couple of loops are thru ash. Feeds are just fine.
It takes about 30min to profile a core for me.

Done. Let me know if there is anything else I can do to make this easier and I'll give it a shot.Head Monkey wrote: ↑Mon Mar 11, 2019 12:16 pm I'll work on getting the max size to show in the instructions, too.

Re: Happy Monkey's process
Thanks for linking the bits and speeds chrismp! For feeds during core profiling: Lead in, center shallow area, and full-depth nose/tail areas: 50 IPM Those little transitions between loops, which are done at full depth: 20 IPM I'd actually like to run much faster in the shallow areas, but I've never...

The error message when you try to upload a file that's too big was pretty poor. I've modified it to show you the size of the file you just tired to upload, plus the currently allowed maximum file size. Hopefully that makes it easier for people to see why their pic was too big. I'll work on getting t...
