It was a self leveling compound for floors. Basically its a type of concrete with mixed in resin for 1-30mm thick applications. When mixed it has low viscosity (almost like water) and very fast cure time (20 min pot life, 3 hours to walk on, 24 hours to drive on). I pressed the first board on the ne...

Main problem where my bladders which are too wide for my boards. Thats why i had more pressure on the edges (or even more outside) then on the center (its a 2 bladder system). Could see the problem looking trough the cattrack ... it did bend a little bit. This problem i address now with smaller blad...

Distorded molds

How are your mdf molds? Do you get distortion on the width axis (concave or convex)?

Mine did this, im not sure where to look for the problem. Part of the problem i had nailed down but it seems the mdf gets compressed during pressing (i press with 4-5 bar)

Biax / Triax glass with finish quality

Anybody knows a source for Biax / Triax glass in finish quality (no standard silane binding)? Did find only UD till now, everything else is with standard silane (not 100% transparent) and not with modified silane in finish quality. There is something like this on the market, did see some boards made...

I do monos, so the binding area is completely different. I assume the added stiffness is necessary for split mode / walking!? Or for riding too? Compared to a snowboard i assume there should be not so much difference cause the position of the bindings is unchanged on a mono, on a snowboard there is ...

Me neither. Bought a new house. Moved everything. Press is in pieces. Basement looks like a lumber store. I'm not sure if I like making skis/snowboards or if it's just an excuse to hoard wood! It's seriously getting ridiculous.⛷🏂 LOL ... did build my press last winter in part ...

Btw did use a big carpenters belt sander with true frame some time ago. Works pretty well to get things straight. I think a similar setup with belt sender should be good. Something like that: Belt sender mounted 90 degrees (side) front and rear long guide rails skateboardwheels with arm & tensio...

What im really unsure is how to handle the hooks. Will use prowder hooks, c-clips, maybe a combination prowder hooks & plum hooks. I did see on some boards that they are mounted without inserts (just talking about the hooks, not the bindings), just drilled from base side, countersunk and finish....

Here are the results: in case you wonder ... its monoskis ;) The black one was my first full carbon experiment. Turned out little bit too soft, but otherwise i was surprised. Till then i didnt like carbon on skis, have to rethink and in action .... forget what most of you have in mind thinking about...

Not sure whats better ... Sauna and no aluminium supply or Aluminium supply and no sauna ;)

Regarding the ss. 1 to 2mm can be quite stiff, depends on the alloy. You have to try. Or just order a whole 1x2m aluminium sheet and get it cut for 3-4 molds.
