Any luck saving the brush for next time vin?
I've tried the white vinegar but not convinced I would want to use the brush again for finish work.
I tried acetone, but think was a bit late in the cure to save it. The volume of solvent required to keep the brush functional seems large to me.

with mould release on aluminium you get an ok finish that you could take back to matt. The big issue is that most epoxy used in ski building isn't UV stabilised so the finish will deteriorate/yellow with time and sun exposure. In the past I have sanded back and sprayed on a UV stabilised outdoor pol...

I don't think that this is what you are asking but it is interesting that all glass fibre is coated in the manufacturing process to stop the fibres from abrading each other and for the resin to stick effectively to the fibres. The process of coating is called sizing and often products called silanes...

Both builds had problem after problem to the point I would have to consider just binning the core if it happened again.
Some builds just seem doomed from the beginning with one problem after the other all the way.

I still ski a ski with a near full thickness semi circle out of the tip where the router bearing slipped off the edge when shaping the bevel. I filled the hole with a ptex candle that fell out long ago. Still stuck fast together. Epoxy is amazing stuff. Also wrote on bottom of core L and R in big un...

Thanks vin. I knew it was on here somewhere, couldn't find it even using the google site search.
You just put on one coat? Sand and polish afterwards, or its good enough without any work after application?

Entropy CLR clear coat

Hi Everyone I am going to order some entropy CLR to clear coat a veneer topped pair of skis instead of the household outdoor polyurethane I have used in the past. The skis were skim coated with epoxy at layup. Just wondering what method people have had success with for applying the clear coat. eg. f...

I've used die cut vinyl stickers as templates. Stick them on. Paint on the paint/epoxy paint/spray can. Then when touch dry peel off the vinyl. It works great without any bleed, esp with a thicker paint like an epoxy paint. It's not reusable, and it can be a bit fiddly in small pieces like the centr...

I have the yellow Toko version. Pretty sure I bought it from Tognar. Can do waist up to 100mm but wider skis can just balance on the top of all 3 pieces for wax/tune.

The actual layup and pressing after 5 pairs is probably enough for learning to do it well. Then just small improvements every time. Every pair we have made have been skiable (first pair marginal due to soft flex!) without any major defects. I try and improve at least one thing in the process with ea...

With the CF in that space I don't think you need to rabbet nearly as deep as you are. You are probably getting strong pressure in between the edge teeth where the core is pushing down and weak pressure at the edges because the depth of your rebate plus the thickness of the CF is almost twice the dep...

Hi again gav I got some of the erapol cc60D and my test so far is looking better than the smooth-on 305. Just wondering whether you are using a vacuum to degas after mixing. It is pretty thick and I seemed to introduce bubbles when mixing that wouldn't dissipate during the pot life. Secondly with th...

I have not had base from cps, but another german company Okulen. It is black 7500 I think and has been good for bonding and seems pretty tough and hard to damage skiing.

unrelated to putting a topsheet on, but it looks like you could do a bit more on topsheet/sidewall bevel to protect the topsheet from chipping. Either a more slanted sidewall, or a second steeper angle at the topsheet edge. The last pair I made I did a 7.5 degree sidewall and then rather than taking...
