that looks a lot like my first board though yours is slightly better :) if youre pressing with a bag rather than a plastic sheet with sealant tape, your setup is like mine. Ive found that ~14psi is a lot more than i originally thought and a solid mold would be wayyyy better than just a few mold ribs...

that sounds like a good idea at this point. I found some cheap 24k cf tow, could i use that but just less? or would that give unsatisfactory results?

Just out of curiosity, will a heat blanket made for a bed work? obviously it won't reach 180F but would it help accelerate the cure time for west system 105/206? over top of a vacuum bag of course. Probably wouldnt work under pressure very well.

Some people have had issues with this because edges weren't clean. I would make sure your edges get wiped down with a clean rag before attaching them to the base and try keeping from touching them with bare hands after that. The oils in your hands so epoxy doesn't bond. Also only use a small drop of...

looks like that $22 kit is only for 8oz, somewhere around a third of what a lot of people use to layup. My guess is that its also a lot thicker than other resins and layup would be difficult. Definitely strong, just might be expensive and difficult to use

I feel like feeding slippage could be fixed with multiple feeders if that makes sense. so if 1 slips, the edge will continue to feed through the other ones at the same rate. Sort of like 4 wheel drive on a car. If 1 wheel slips, the others probably wont. you could also make a custom(probably cnc) fe...

Western Red Cedar Cores

An opportunity recently came up for me to buy some high quality s4s 100% clear of knots western red cedar boards. In short, I could make red cedar only cores for about $6 a piece but I can't really find a lot on cores like this on the site. All I know is that its soft and needs either inserts or str...

I didn't have too much trouble with keeping my base against my mold so here's a few things I did -I covered my base with vinyl application tape. This should also help with some of the epoxy pooling. Not completely but will help -I covered my mold with a wide sheet of painters plastic drop cloth and ...

just tested my board today for kicks and i was actually pleasantly surprised. The carbon fiber made it super stiff so it took more energy to use but more pop and solid turns came out of it. The concave base did not make a huge difference but i was in somewhat slushy conditions. No delams or edge pop...
