Kompositfabriken epoxy works great. I have done a lot of work on my boat, and built a snowboard and 2 pairs of skis with their system 1, and have been satisfied... price isn't as good as QCM in the states, and I am not sure that quality is there either, but it seems to work well for the money. Ni so...

200 mm wide could be interesting... I would mostly be worried about breaking my knees from the side strain. They will be difficult to get up on edge, and you would need to think about the transverse structure of the ski a little, but they could definitely be fun. And, they would certainly be the big...

Bio based resins are here?

I just got this email from Entropy Resins... their store is open. Definitely more expensive than QCM but at least the technology is coming along. http://www.entropysports.com/store/ Too bad I am in Europe now, but it would be very interesting to find out how this stuff works... I don't think I would...

I am from bellingham... and built a lot of skis there, but am not there now. I know there should be some people out in Deming building skis though. When I sold my press, they were interested in buying it, but it had already sold.

Good luck, and throw down some nice turns at baker this winter.

I make my bags with building plastic (from Beijer Bygg) and seal with clear packaging tape. It isn't optimal, but it works well enough to get decent pressure if you are careful. Kompositabriken is pretty good as well for epoxy, I have been really happy with them and they have great prices on fibergl...

If you have unlimited access to veneer... why not just make the whole core out of it?

Davide (on this forum) has done that for a long time, and it seems to work really well.

Sweet to see another CU ME student here (I'm an alum from '04 and still get larry monkeyman's emails). I think really your best option is to focus on the eliminating waste side of things. One thing I have really tried to focus on is eliminating mixed waste. For example, when wood and fiberglass are ...

I just made a snowboard, and a pair of skis using "cap construction" and the following technique: - Vacuum bagged. - Cut the cores out before the bases, and then used the cores as a pattern for the bases. - Put an angle on the sidewalls before pressing. - Rounded the corner on the top of t...

One company that makes great packs as well, is Conterra. They are pretty much unknown but supply most packs to ski patrollers, navy seals, swat teams, etc. I have been very satisfied with the quality of my current "patrol' pack, but their others are also very smartly designed. http://www.conter...

That is exactly it.... Mistakes are only mistakes if you classify them as such. Just call it an experiment, and everyone will be impressed at how inventive you are :)

I have had really good luck with a couple layers of polyurethane clearcoat. It goes on easy, doesn't smell bad, and leaves a nice glossy finish. Minwax brand is what I have used.

Safety first. Right on!!! That is the perfect attitude to approach using an air bladder press. When I used my air bladder press, I ran at about 40 psi and was quite satisfied with the results. My vacuum press runs at about 13 psi, and again, quite satisfied. However, for a bladder press, I would say...
