I ski pretty aggresively most of the time, with probably about 90% of my weight on the outside ski, so I guess in these situations it isn't important what the inside ski has. However at low to moderate speeds on relatively flat terrain you initiate the turn by rolling both skis onto their edges and ...

Such thin tips! Excited to hear how these ride. Does you core extend all the way to the tip and tail? Yes, the core goes right to the tip about 3mm short. I changed to cap construction on the tip as I didn't want the core exposed where it was cut through the fibres of the wood. On the sides the gra...

Another pair of skis finished.. This is an everyday on piste cruiser. It is my first ski with a full sidewall. Normally I did a cap. Also I stained an ash veneer green and airbrushed the graphics onto that Then used a 2 component Matt clearcoat over that.. https://abload.de/img/peter_everyday_74r2j5...

I too have thought of an asymmetric ski, same as PMG. I made a ski accidentally where the side-cuts were different, ie the bases warped. The skis were wonky and found they wouldn't carve equally. One ski always wanted to go more straight. Maybe if they were purposely made engineered to spec things ...

Here is a link to your gallery => http://imgur.com/gallery/2ONzY Nice Photoblog.. Interesting following your progress. The first skis look like a bit of a dogs breakfast, but I take it there is a bit of finnishing to be done there still. I assume you are no longer putting a dowel through everything....

Montuckys right, core alignment outside your base is the way to go. I've used a roofing nail a few different times and it's hard to keep it from dimpling or pimpling your base. Plus you're putting a hole into your core that's unnecessary. You might not have a dimpling problem much with vacuum press...

I agree with Pmg. for Cap, it is the only way to go. The hole I drilled is 3mm, and I don't consider that this will make much difference on the strength of the ski. It is so precise that the core can be positioned with about 0,1 mm accuracy. Disadvantage of this method. Yesterday I did a layup, the ...

Ill try that with probably a 2 m difference. I'm building a 16m radius ski at the moment... Ill see how it works and how I like it.. then design something based on that. I guess if the difference is too great, and you are skiing the tighter radius on the inside edge, then the other ski will be wanti...
