So I have been busy lately. During the last winter I decided to built a powderski for telemarking. And a friend of mine got really hooked on moguls so we decided to give it a try and make a mogulski. https://abload.de/thumb/p1010597elsd6.jpg https://abload.de/thumb/p1010599v1srl.jpg https://abload.d...

No topsheet, just UV-stable epoxy.
I did two skis without topsheets, made both with SuperSap. It looks pretty nice with the core shining through the glasfibre even though it is not very durable. The second one had veneer just at the tip and the tail.

I am thinking about building an ecoski as well. I made a pair with biax flax and glass which I really liked. I also liked its dampness. But what about a ski with a full flax laminate? Will it be too damp? Earlybird writes about using carbonstrips. Core would be full ash.

So I will use butt joints this year. This will make things a bit easier.
Thanks guys!

I made a pair with flax biax and uni glass. It was a very smooth ride but heavy as mammoth wrote. The pressure of a vacuumsetup ist not high enough to get a good fibre-resin ratio.
Next pair will get glass triax and a thin layer Uni flax. I will take a closer look at the amount of resin I use.

Junction/transition core-tipspacer

As I am planning this years projects I always come up with new questions. Playing with SnoCad made me think of the different options of designing the tipspacers. Straight junction or with interlock, radius or no radius. So far I always worked with a radius as I learned as kid when building rc-planes...

A friend of mine wants a mogulski. Doing some research I found this rather old thread and decided to reopen it. So far length and outline are planned: noselength, narrow, rather big radius. But what about the flex? I read several things that go from medium to stiff or medium front to stiff tail. I k...

And are you guys talking about the tip of the final ski or are you talking about the tip of the flat template?

Your ski looks great!

Why didn´t you put the flax next to the core? Like

Topsheet
Carbon triax
Flax uni
Core
Flax uni
Carbon triax
Base

I think it would give you even stronger damping.

Nice job, especially the powderskis look great. I wanted to built a really fat pair myself but then I thought about the last snowfalls in the alps.
Are those cap-constructions? And what is the step at the very tip and tail? Is it just the P-Tex and the laminate?

Nice idea.
But how do you place the thumb tack on the base? How do you mark its exact position sine the mark will be covered by the tumb tacks baseplate.

I like this method much more than my rather brutal way.

It is ABS from Skibaumarkt.de. I can't say much about the kingpin. I was sick during the x-mas holidays and couldn't go skiing. I will get a few days in february. So I only skied them for one day. Since the dynafits tend to release when skiing harder I tried to get a false release from the kingpin a...
