Re: Blackmore
I always re-flame base ands tip spacer. It may not be necessary but it is something that I have always done and will always continue to do. If you are using UHMWPE sidewall its is absolutely necessary to abrade with an 80 grit sanding drum and flame both the top and bottom until a water drop does no...

Re: Blackmore
Your base delam is likely due to attaching your edges to the smooth side of the base if you did not fix that before layup. Attach your edges to abraded and flamed side of the base. Flame treating the smooth side will not work.

Re: Polyester fleece or fleecing a carbon fiber ski
Boston materials SuperComp material. The have several weaves with what they call a Z axis fiber, It looks like a fleece like layer but is in reality a cardboard pulp of some kind. Looks interesting. They claim that it improves dampening. I have a sample of it but have not yet used it.

Re: Vacum press air bubbles
Air bubbles in the base or topsheet are most likely due to inadequate pressure.

Re: Making it big?
Even making it small is hard. Every dollar I make goes back into the business. But on a positive note WRS will be fully in the black this spring after my shop upgrade/CNC purchase a couple seasons ago as long as everything goes as planned. It's an exciting turning point for WRS and in the future I s...

Re: Kids Pow skis
Youth binding screws are 7.5mm I've made a few kid skis. I just made a set 130 cm that are 72 at the waist. I used a 8mm core thinned to the standard 2.2 at the tip. My biggest piece of advice is to measure the mount length of your kid's current ski and be sure to keep the core thick enough near the...

That pics is kind of blurry but I'd expoxy and clamp it and see what happens. Why do yon think epoxy won't work?
Maybe upload a better pic?

That is almost always going to be a pressure issue. Not enough pressure in that area if the mold.

Re: cnc question
Now that I’ve been using the cnc for a couple years I have refined my hold down methods. Now instead of gluing directly to the spoilboard I place some blue painters tape in a few places along the core. Then hot glue the core to the tape. Works great. Keeps things held down nicely and doesn’t gum or ...

Vacuum pump
Gauging interest in a 1.1cfm Gast continuous run vacuum pump with nearly everything you’d need to vacuum press. Includes filter, exhaust dampers, vac gauge, braided vac hose, quick release attachment, and vac valve. I’d throw in a slightly used bag (18” x 9 ft tube)( no known holes) with sealers als...

Re: Pre-treating paulownia or balsa core
I'm pretty stoked on how well this set came out with the new core material. I'm not really sure that I even needed to pre-seal such a small amount of paulownia. For the next set I'm going with no seal to see what it does. It won't be a direct comparison because it is going in a much bigger ski, 188 ...
