actually some big manufacturer's boards have wooden sidewalls...my völkl squad prime 2008 is an example. the sidewalls are some kind of horizontally laminated wood veneer. i think it's bamboo. it didn't come with any instructions on how to treat the sidewalls, so i guess it's not necessary. so maybe...

@idris: the heaters are working great...last time we pressed it was about 0°C in our shop and we got the press up to 80°C in about 15 minutes. @knightsofnii: thanks man. we settled on using a full length woodcore with approx. 2cm wide tipspacers made of polyurethane d44. the polyurethane works great...

don't know any suppliers in sweden, but you could ask the guys from sicomin http://www.sicomin.com/ if they have a distributor in sweden.
the system you're looking for is their SR8500 epoxy and SZ8525 hardener (we're loving it! cures within 30-10minutes at 70-100°C).
