Yes. :) That's just silly. Resaw? Yes. Blocks? Yes. Laminating press? No. Heating the press and using epoxy? Not 100% sure but it certainly begs the question: WHY? The wood already breaks out LONG before the glue, ANY glue but library paste, gives way and a press thins the glue (any glue) to a ridi...

I dont think it is possble to convert the SFI uless Endre tells us how he calculates the SFI numbers, I am thinking its just a statistical formula based on his "database". SFI is a statistically based flex index. SFI can be calculated from a row of 14 or 16 measured N/mm numbers in linked...

through the cassette plates and base materials the heat needs time to get through.

80C or warmer is what i use for hardening solid blocks of wood for cores, for skis i use lower temperatures and then hardening in a heating cabinet

jvangelder wrote:80C in one min? While that is quick, wouldn't that cause a bunch of uneven heating throughout the mold and press making it press differently?
Not really. With a lot of power you have a lot of control.. until you loose it. like a nuclear powerplant, it is great til you get a meltdown.

Bummer. How many watts could your gear pull.? I have stayed away from kilowatts for this reason. Overnight a 100-200w will do 80C but takes time. 4kw. I will use less in the future for shure, my first one was 2kw, that was plenty. I wanted to test fast heating. It has worked great til now though, i...

Nice! Thanks for posting that. That picture is from the still-not-so-fancy-looking part of the factory ;)

I mount from 2 to 12cm back from center depending on type of ski, the snow is pretty deep on that picture. most standard freeride skis i use a 54% mount, usually a 7-8cm setback on a 190- ish ski

so from your thickness values your ski will be something like: SFI (back to front): 21323

in other words very, very very record holding soft.

try (back to front) : 2,5mm- 8,5mm- 12,5mm- 8mm- 2mm.

this will make a 56655-ish ski

You've SFI wrong. SFI is a relative scale i have constructed (for Fri Flyt) to compare skis from all brands, it is based on a formula but it is a bit to complex to be written here. (it relates to average values from about 300 pairs of freeride skis from most brands) SFI (ski flex index) is like this...
