Re: titanal layup help

I made a GS pair. I did a write up on it. My research said the titanal should go against the core. I put VDS on both sides of the titanal, but when I did sample layups with and without VDS both bonded fine. But I went with VDS for insurance and provide a little bit of damping.

Re: woodcore thickness

you can use this spreadsheet that somebody created awhile ago. Its a great help. But I found that it only gives a good starting point because the numbers it gives you wont have a lot of meaning until you make the ski and ski on it. Then the numbers will have meaning because you'll have experience on...

Re:

Love it Steve!! I may finally play with some metal this season. For me I'd probably recess the metal in the core. Maybe a 2.5"wide strip down the center. I'd like to cut out a mesh pattern like the Nordicas a couple years ago but I have to figure out the CNC part of that. I get the McNichols M...

Score it with a razor firmly and then snap it. Smooth out the rough edge with a fine file or sand paper. I put the titanal against the core. But I’ve seen it done both ways.

I debated whether or not to recess the titanal on the last pair I just made. I only put it in the binding area. The core was already at 10.5mm so I decided not to. The ski is 165cm for a ski coach for training. I used flax and CF in the lay up.

I agree with Vinman, FG gives some dampness to the ski/board, necessary for hard pack skiing.

I measured the core and it’s 10mm under foot. I raced on it last week in our beer league and it was good. Conditions were typical frozen granular with a hard base underneath. It held excellent! I was really happy with it. They engaged turns smoothly and good grip in the turn. It’s fun to free sk...

That awesome! Unfortunately I deleted my photobucket pics and my account, but I could probably figure it out based on the jpeg name. It would be a small project to update all 338 pics! Thanks for doing this!

Some of my links worked and some didn’t. But soon photobucket will require you to pay a monthly fee. What really bothered me about them is they stopped the hot links without notice, at least I never got one. Plans start at $4.48 a month. It’s cheap but they just turned me off. It’s going to ma...
