Re: split before or after base grind

Just one thing. If the guy on the grinder is grinding one side like crazy and the other side not, well then there can be a difference. But then you need another skiman or your base is not flat ;) And we are still talking about 1/10th(s) of a mm.

Re: split before or after base grind

Well, the edges are the "fence" for grinding. If you base(s) are flat they halves will be the same, cutout before and grinded after.

Re: traditional flex scale (1-10) translated

I assume its just marketing bullshit and the manufacturers scale the scale to their own vision of flex ;)

Re: Pneumatic ski press mold

You need to try, too many parameters involved like fibres you use, resin, core material, ski lenght and thickness,.... to predict springback.

Re: Splitboard "tounge and groove" concept

Yeah a friend seems happy too about the Furbergs too. Not sure if he is happy because of marketing or real life ;) For me its a solution for a problem i never had :D Even if the halves flex a little bit different during a turn, you will not feel it in powder. And on hard stuff the second half doesnt...

Re: Which fiber is best at retaining screws

No fibre is really good for screw retention. If you wanna use fibres the thickness is the key. The thicker & denser the better. That said you can use pieces of quadrax glas or multiple layers of fine woven glas. Titanal would be not so bad but titanal usually bonds not good, so you dont rip out ...

Re: Sublimation warping

Industrial process (regarding to isosport) is to cool under pressure after sublimation. Not sure if this is done with roll or plate machines. The problem is you have just a few seconds between, otherwise it starts to act like a snake already ;)

Re: Wooden backcountry skis

On every tab of the edge (which is not good) or on every X tab? If the base wood is soaking the glue too much, try a gel type. I assume the edges have no gaps when you fix them with glue, the gaps are coming during pressing? And try just using the superglue without spray fix. P.S. you clean your edg...

Re: Wooden backcountry skis

Cool! If you like to go lightweight switch to full carbon fibres. You will have to make the core thinner as well (if you stay with ash) which will also shave off some weight... But ... if your skis are not made mainly for freeride or high speed you can change to another more lightweight wood. This c...
