Hi dave, I had a spare moment and drew up your ski for you. http://noleech.90megs.com/BigDaddyDave.dxf Here is the drawing in PDF format as well, in case you have no software available to view the DXF. http://noleech.90megs.com/BigDaddyDave.pdf Depending on how my day goes, I may do up a 3D render f...

It is definately possible. I've done it with my salomon bindings. All you need is a vise a screwdriver and a lever.

here's a picutre tutorial:

This is a good idea.

I think setting up a wiki for this would be a perfect way for everyone to contribute.

I've never seen sliding inserts and I'm having a difficult time visualizing them.

have you got a CAD drawing by any chance, collin?

I'm working on getting access to a CNC milling center/CNC lathe. There is definately a possibility of getting some of these made up if I can find the machine time.

endre brings up a good point. Because air is compressible it will not transfer the pressure as efficiently as a liquid would.

you could fill the hose with water, oil, or some other fluid.

alternately you could probably skip the hose altogether.

gret work hoseman, I'll be following it closely. I myself am just in the process of pricing out the whole project. If you would like more info on the Bro Models, I can get it for you. a new, softer Bro in the 177 length is in the works as we speak. just let me know what you'd like to know :) I can a...

I'd be glad to help.

I can make a 3D model of the ski too, if you'd like

would you like more of a dynastar style shaped tip, or moure rounded like a Line or rossi twintiip?

Sidecut, mounting points, and profile

I am in the beginning stages of designing a ski for myself While looking at other skis I have I've noticed a few things. Some skis (park skis mainly) are mounted directly in the center. this is also right at the apex of the sidecut. Other skis are mounted somewhat behind the centerline of the ski. I...

That will be a good project for sure. We had to build a mini CNC router from the ground up as one of our tech projects. It's really not all that difficult, though depending on the size and which components you use, it can be prety expensive. Servos (if you go that route) and the main encoder box are...

WOW!

I am very glad you guys have documented your experiences in ski making so well. I made a cedar strip canoe once, a faberglas hood for my car once, and I think now it's time for skis. I am an avid skier and have always been interested in constructing my own planks. As a kid, every time I heard of ran...
