Triax Fiberglass 4 sale

I have about 210' of 22oz. Triax 6.5" wide I'm looking to sell. This was purchased from Raka a bit ago. There is no mat with this glass, it's the standard 0, 45, -45 degree stuff. I recently purchased a bunch of Vectorply and I'm trying to establish some consistency in my skis (at least the bra...

I used to clean it until my friend who's built 1000's of pairs of skis told me I was wasting my time. I don't do it anymore, and I haven't had any issues yet. The CDW rubber I now use seems to be a lot cleaner than the skibuilders stuff. It doesn't have the powder all over it. I try and keep the rol...

Isn't phenolic stuff really brittle? As hard as it is, it seems like it must be a bit. I would stay away from ABS. It can't take the impacts like UHMW. Not even close really. And when it breaks, it chunks out and you are left with a gaping wound in your skis. At least UHMW just mostly dents and crac...

Awesome looking skis! I love the way you beveled the edge of the topsheet and it shows a nice white border around your graphic when looking straight on. Those are probably going to be some pretty burly skis. Your core profile doesn't stay at 12mm to long underfoot does it? You mentioned you pulled t...

The 3 blade DeWalt is the loudest planer I've heard. My 2 blade ryobi is quite a bit quieter. I tried the Steel City (Rigid) with claimed spiral cutter and it was horrible. It wasn't a true spiral head cutter. It just had the multiple offset blades that would leave nasty marks in the wood. It was ha...

I've used 4 different brands of triax and the Owens Corning is by far my favorite for the reasons MM listed. It is definitely the easiest to use.

I think I mentioned this to you before in another thread......try L.N. Curtis and Sons in Salt Lake. They have sold hose to now 4 skibuilders that I know of. Here's their link: http://www.lncurtis.com/ Tell them you are building a bladder press for skis. They will know what you are talking about. I ...

they do compressive over vacuum for a reason.

-Jacob[/quote]

And that reason probably is because they can't afford an autoclave. We make over 400 different aerospace parts and 98% of them are vacuum molded and then cured in an autoclave. The others are RTM'd.

Whitepine--you in the SLC area? I thought you were for some reason. Either way, I got my hose from L.N. Curtis and Sons in Salt Lake. They are a huge supplier of fire equipment. When I went in there the guy remembered selling hose to Igneus, Pre, and some other old, defunct, company that I'm spacing...

Sounds like you know what you are doing but I use SW and just connect the points with a spline for my rocker/camber profile. I know you are probably trying to get a perfect arc for the underfoot section using the arc but mine come out just fine. I did it the same way. You should be able to accurate...

I'm always amazed by the climate on this globe! I feel the same way. SLC almost reached 90 the other day. The skiing at the Bird is still damn good and now Snowbasin is re-opening this weekend because they still have a ton of snow. They wouldn't have closed, but the Gondola needed scheduled mainten...

Alta is reporting 702" right now with a couple more feet expected this weekend. Check out this link to their snowfall history: http://alta.com/pages/snowfallhistory.php Notice how it dumped almost everyday this month, and last month, and the month before that. Sure the rain in January sucked, b...

One thing I've learned from this ski building venture is that factory tunes on new skis suck. I didn't realize how much better of a tune you can get. Some shops are so clueless on how to tune new skis it's borderline pathetic. I've had a pair go through the Montana robot 200+ times and not get flat....

Millions of little holes??? Are you sure you are seeing a leak? Did it deflate? Maybe 1000's and yes and yes. It would lose most of it's pressure in 30-45 minutes or so. Check it: http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/ff363/Garage_Skis/bubbles.jpg The entire length of hose looked like this. And I did...

I used this method for my first three pair. The third pair snapped right on the junction of core to tip spacer. The skis didn't have topsheet, only fiberglass, but I can't imagine a topsheet making it that much stronger. My cores now use a "tab" that extends up into the tip so the junction...
