Re: split before or after base grind
Most people cut this groove with a router. Either a handheld one or on a router table.

Re: split before or after base grind
It is best practice to cut a groove (often referred to as edge rabbet or rebate) into the core to make space for the edge tang thickness. For splitboards this should be done for the inside edges as well. With some softer woods, you might get away with not cutting this groove. However, not doing this...

What you are looking for is usually referred to as a router bridge on here. Use the search or google and you will find loads of different versions. https://www.google.com/search?q=router+bridge+site:skibuilders.com&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjvraiL1KzuAhUMrRQKHUPMCPIQ_AUoAX...

Great idea! Really looking forward to your ride report!
Is that a veneer topsheet? Kinda hard to tell from the photos.

Re: Obygden Teknologi - s02
I think you should be able to locate them without the tape. The holes in the inserts will probably create a small dimple in the top layers, especially if you press with heat.

Re: Obygden Teknologi - s02
You could fill the inserts with silicone. Just make sure to not get any of that stuff on the core as it doesn't bond well. For locating the inserts you could tape a piece of paper to the board and rub a pencil over the area where you suspect the inserts to be. They should show up nicely (just like w...

Re: Round Top skis 19/20
Is the tip of the thermocouple right where the wires go into the blanket or does it extend further into the blanket? You might want your sensor to be in an area where the skis/boards you are pressing are located to get an accurate reading. When I press boards the thermocouples located over and under...

Re: Obygden Teknologi - s02
Do you guys really think that magnetraction helps that much to go through all that hustle? I rode a LibTech Skate Banana for a few days in mixed conditions and wasn't really that impressed, but that might have also had to do with the full rocker of the board.

Re: Obygden Teknologi - s02
Depends on the manufacturer I guess. There is a factory video by Mervin where they showed the tool they use to add their Magnetraction. It was essentially a small levered press that forced the edges into the wavy shape. Pretty simple tool - can be seen in the video below at 3:42. https://www.youtube...

Re: Obygden Teknologi - s02
The big players do it with cnc machined mold cassettes. This gets them pretty close to a good fit.

Re: Obygden Teknologi - s02
Looks a lot like the Jones Mind Expander ;) To be honest, I never understood why Jones started to do Magnetraction on their inside edges. Even with using industry standard cassette molds it must be a nightmare to get the inside edges to fit well. I have seen their splitboards in shops and many of th...

Looking great! Is there any particular reason you ended the edges before the contact points in the tip?
