Good to know you could flatten it out. Are the tows under the core noticeable visually, or by feel?

Damn, that stuff is super expensive!

Carbon Tow, Pros/Cons?

I sometimes use glass with carbon tows incorporated along the length in various groupings (i.e., x 12, x 25, etc). I want to start adding my own in order to fine tune some of the flex characteristics (particualrly in torsion) but I've never bought tow before that wasn;t already in the glass. Questio...

Neat idea, but it seems it would rule out a whole style of riding. Any time you would want to flex the board under your feet and butter into something (or out) you'd be edge high :(

Another thought on carbon tows in symmetric layups...putting the carbon on the top resists contraction of the top and seems to increase expected camber. Reverse is also true. I find I fiddle with the location of the carbon tows more for this (and, I admit, looks) than for anything else. Unless stren...

Are you saying you only have fibers running laterally (90deg) on the top? Nothing going lengthwise? If that is the case then that is your culprit. The composite layers shrink when cooling, in the direction of the fibers. If there are no fibers running lengthwise on top, the bottom layers will pull ...

Not sure what it is, i'd just assumed a thick layer of white, epoxyable ink. It's laminated on there (i..e, looks like it was applied as a seperate layer) and is pretty thick. Bonds like a champ, i assume the purpsoe is simply to act as a flood coat and make the colors brighter and more opaque. Howe...

Warning: i once picked up some Crown stuff with the white coating and it was HEAVY! It's not just a flood coat, it's laminated on.

The transfer should work work, but it defeats the original goal...the digi press prints are unreal cheap. Did not try the reheating (I assume you mean by flame treatment). i assumed that the ink was so thin it would be too delicate, but actually the epoxy seemed to have no affect on it at all, so may...

Digi Press Printing on UHMW? Still Doesn't Work

Thougt I;'d share a learning experience, that might be obvious to most of you. A local printer turned me onto printing UHMW bases with a large format digitial press. When i explained that only epoxyable ink would work, the printer counted that that the ink layer was so thin it would make no material...
