Re: Well that did not work.
After reading the Fiberless skis thread I decided I would give it a shot. I ordered some veneer, did a few test with QCM epoxy and some scraps. Come to find out it doesn't hold at all with veneer/veneer or veneer/base material. So I tried another test this time with fiberglass (so much for fiberles...

I am sorry if I offended you Richuk in my last qoute, I always enjoy reading your views and thoughts and don't get me wrong. I am very concerned about numbers when designing. Everything I do is measured and written down and used as future reference. But I am more interested in turning theories like ...

This is how we do it. It works and is easy to change. We use 1mm cardboard to build up camber or rocker, the arrow, (if we want alot we throw some 3mm hdf in there aswell) The top mold are blocks of plywood that slide on the black metal thing. With two different tip and tail molds, one rocker, one p...

Yep. so do I but as I see it there are 3 different ways of getting there. And what are the pros and cons? Lets talk about allmountain skis as they are both pist and powder designed. An average pist ski usually has this 55-45% boot/waist -center placement. and lets assume that that is just perfect. #...

Most of the forum consists of many hackers, a few pioneers and one or two engineers, so how do you intend to ensure that everyone can contribute and or confirm the results. I Will follow this with great interest. I don't really care about measurable results but I am looking forward to get inspired....

What about a slice of thick (4-5 cm) of semi-hard rubber inbetween cattrack and ski/board. maybe with a slice of HDF inbetween to even out the pressure. I got a sample of some for another project that I think could work. If you press your finger into it as hard as you can you can depress it about a ...

The ones I built with 11 mm cores where touring skis for a light friend. A couple of 10th of a millimiter makes a huge difference. As I said above, normal skis for me would be around 12,4 mm at the thickest point, but I have also made stiffer and softer for different purposes. In my setup the range ...

I also use 19 oz triax and no carbon but my cores are somewhere inbetween 13 and 12 mm at the bindings. The stiffest I have ever made where 13,5 and the softest I haver ever made (a touring ski for a friend) where 11,0. The 13,5 are really stiff. 12.4 mm is what we make most skis. Good grip on ice b...
