I have bought pre bend edges..It takes me more than one hour to bend the pre-bend edge to fit the bottom. One the otherhand I bend the tail part not pre bend in 10 minutes.

Now I bend the pre-bending to strait and then bend again.. in 30 min I bend the complete edge. I use nippers, easy and fast.

Thanks, I have been sking quite a lot with the skies. Works well, I'm still supprised. I have start to build next pair; shorter with tail/tip rocker. Some improvments I'm planing to do: - side walls were hand planed last time, angle was not enough, now I will use router and 14deg - rabbet, the edget...

Maybe the tip part on the widest point is not contacting the snow when sking normally? If you make a drawing with these numbers center of radius will be quite back of ski center?

I think that if you make a rocker ski the lenght 141 cm is quite short? http://www.blizzard-ski.com/products/black-pearl/ My wife tested these skies last weekend and the "real" lenght is atleast 30 cm shorter than the ski. FIS Slalom ski is 13 m as radius and those turn very fast as pmg po...

I have the similar construction that SHIF has but I can't get sidewall flat and smooth enough. In general it looks good but it has small wavy scarring from router bit. I was told that the reason might be that router bit isn't sharpened in the right way since it comes sharpened for the wood but not ...

I use an interlock style tip with a 2 mm thick wood center surrounded by 25mm plastic tip spacer. I have no issues with flat bases or with mold conformity as long as the plastic and the wood are the same thickness. Also no issues with maintaining tip rise with this style of tip. Do you use vacuum? ...

Vacuum should easily bend your wood cores. Unless you prebend your cores they will not lay flat in your mold and make your layup and alignment more difficult. They will also add some internal stress, trying to straighten out inside your ski. This is one reason why people use tip spacer. sam thanks ...

It would work. Of course if you do this then you don't need to use a tip spacer. You could just extend your core to include the tip. As I understand it, one of the main reasons for using a tip spacer is as a substitute for sidewall material. and with cap construction you don't need this. Hi, accord...

I make Cap construction with vacuum. On the first pair I just insert tip spacer as big piece and cut away parts after laminating. Would it be stupid idea to cut the tip spacer on final dimension before laminating as core is. I think this would give better result and the veneer would bend as in side ...
