There also different wavelengths with every laser type, even with the same color.

And there is diode too. Its mainly seen as a toy but in fact fibres are driven by diode arrays too.

Problem with plastics are the different types. If you cut ABS with a laser you create chlorine gas....

How you think its an Epilog?

For bases you need a CO2 source, thats true.

The Topsheet bending over the sidewall is no problem in a hydraulic press. With vacuum its a different story cause it can lead to trapped air bubbles which cannot escape. It will be cut off with the flash. You can glue to the sidewalls some scrap wood, so you have a wider core and a topsheet laying ...

Youre on the right way. Yes you should do your sidewalls wider then your outline, it will be cut away later. Do a safe margin depending how exact your core positioning system is.

Ah i see, sanding planer. Good idea, but you need to grind wet otherwise the material is overheating
