No problem you just need to re-abrade and flame the rabbeted area of ptex to make sure the bonding works well. If your surface preparation can achieve the same adhesion as factory sanded and flamed ptex then it's fine. I haven't ever tried to abrade and flame untreated ptex but people on here must d...

I don't worry about it, but maybe it would be better if you did. I trust the factory abrasion/flaming more than my ability to reabrade and flame the tip fill after rebating it. The other option is to build up the area between the edges with a thin piece of glass (0.6mm thickness of tangs) or a piece...

Yeah the old slip with the router on the final sidewall pass is a fairly brutal moment to swallow.

The drag racing board looks great! When you do the 2 sidewall angles are you doing the first with the router base running on the base of the board and the second running the router base along the top of the board to get the 45 chamfer all the way around the board, or just doing both with the router ...

The bigger companies staple the tipspacer to the sidewall at a point outside the layup (ie gets cut off with the flash). Usually this is with ptex sidewall and ptex tipspacer. You have to find short staples or grind the staples down. If you are using wood sidewall you could widen your core at the ti...

I use a jigsaw blade for metal, they cut the fibreglass better. I got the 3 inch diam by 3 inch length drum sander from lee valley tools I think or one of the other USA woodworking stores. I don't have the bearng support bit but it would be nice because I definitely get a bit of deflection on the dr...

I just use a jigsaw with the ski base side up and follow close to the edge of the base without touching it. Not hard after some practice. Then as the others said using a belt or drum sander to clean it up back to the base material. I use a drum covered in sandpaper that mounts in a drill press. With...

Hey doughboy, welcome back These guys from Bend are making some slightly different boards https://www.snoplanks.com/pages/technology The photos I have seen look like the bamboo cores run full length and are thicker than average. I thought they didn't actually have any glass/carbon in them and used a...

In general in your design I would look at your effective edge centre point and place the boot centre mark 6.5cm behind this point. Highest point of camber at this mount point also if possible and narrowest part of ski. Look at the relationship of this mount point in regards to true ski centre and th...
