I like it better than my router table because it's easier to set up and adjust, and is less likely to tear up the core. Also, routers scare the piss out of me.

http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i99/neclassic/snowboard/snowboard019.jpg Hey, look at the dumb-@$$ with no safety glasses. http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i99/neclassic/snowboard/snowboard020.jpg At least I'm using a stick instead of my bare hand to hold the work down. Same set-up would ...

I've only used a dado to make straight cuts, what am I missing? Mad skilz baby, mad skilz! ;) :D I clamp a piece of scrap to the rip fence. The scrap is rounded on the edge toward the blade so the core only touches it right where it's over the blade. I think I have a pic somewhere and will post it ...

I recess mine after profiling. I use a dado blade on the table saw. Works well.

Sorry man, I missed your post.

The bag is sealed down each side from the manufacturer esentialy making a tube. The ends are sealed by rolling them over a piece of plastic pipe and then a split piece of pipe slips over the first pipe with the bag in between.

One thing more that you can do to reduce the irregularities in your template is to make a very long 'sanding block' to touch up your template edges after cutting with a saw. I do the same thing. I make my block with eased edges on the ends and set the length so I can slide a 3" belt sander bel...

You're right in thinking the quality of the template is important. If you're going to use it to rout the shape of the base, any irregularities will transfer. I'd suggest worrying most about the running length. This is what sees snow. A little gap between the edge and base on the tip or tail is not a...

I'll be up this Saturday and Sunday. You can find me at the line-ups for snowboard lessons at 10:00am, 1:30pm, and 5:30pm or just ask for me at the ski school desk. I wear a dark blue winter motorcycle jacket circa 1979, a grey helmet, and ride a snowboard. Either an alpine board with plates and har...

Whole thing in a bag is how I did it.

You can put a flat piece in the bag first to slide the form in on top of after you've done your layup.

Mark, Though I don't like to see all your effort become a non-event, I'm kind of glad that it may now happen at another date. I was seriously bummed that I had to work that day. If you'd like to ride and can get out this way, drop me a line. I'd love to see your work first hand. -Mark (This is where...
