Quick and Dirty mdf cnc machine

This is a crappy video of my co-worker messing around with a cnc machine he just built from plans on instructables.com. Now that we've got the basic jist of the thing, we're working on a larger, better version.

enjoy.

Re: Core profiling without a core profiler?

Make sure your plane iron is sharp and you'll be amazed how fast you can remove material.

I use oil on micro-grit paper layed on glass. It's very easy to get a good edge this way.

Vegetale fibers have a negative CO2 balance and much less energy is required in the processing.
Makes sense,

@Alexisg1: Yes it is easier to build than buuk's profiler, but it does not have the same adjustability. Yep that's for sure, but it is still possible to change the locations and height of the "inserts" between the two planks. Hey fellas, The jig is adjustable for length of taper by moving...

Re: Just to Clarify...

4001 grade, 30 cm wide, black $11.99/meter If I click "add to cart" how much of each product do I get (i.e. one unit of p-tex base material in my cart equals how many square meters of p-tex material)? There's just no way to tell for sure right now. One unit in cart = 1 meter(length) x 30 ...

But when you think about it, metal used to damp vibrations.....You gotta think there would be a better way. The only real expirience I've had with reducing vibration has been reducing frequency spikes in my brother's recording studio. We use three basic methods, one of which seems to relate to the ...

Preparing Edges

Particularly the edges from the Skibuilders store. How do you prepare your edges before tacking them to the base? I was planing on wire brushing them but they seem to have a bead or sand-blasted finish already. Is cleaning them with solvent enough, should I run the brush over them, or is there anoth...

........Metal skis lack damping, .........The titanal that is currently applied is so thin that it won't negatively effect damping. But I don't think that it ads anything to your ski either (except ofcourse weight)........ ??????? I was under the impresion that making a ski more damp is the primary...

I'm with Martin on this one. Building my first now I used polyurethane and am now thinking it wasn't worth the cost and effort. Any type of wood glue should be stronger than the cross grain strength of the wood it's holding together and if the core gets wet long enough to cause problems with non-wat...
