i also just got super convex bases. pulled them out at 60ºC (140ºF), which was maybe a bit too hot, then immediately moved them through -2ºC outside temp for about 5mins... obviously that was stupid, but I'm hoping that the snappy temp change was the only reason they turned out that way, as it's an ...

Here's a not so great photo of the vacuum chamber . Black 1/2" acrylic on the bottom, clear on top. Routed 1/8" deep channel in each and filled with silicone. First used leftover from heat blanket, but decided cheap bathroom stuff in a caulking tube actually did a better job, hence the bit...

Have you called CDW? They should have 1.7mm edges in now (they arrived Novermber 13th, I think, so I assume they still have some). Not sure if they are only doing by the roll for that stuff, or if you can get it by the piece, like the thinner. IsoSport I don't think will/can make that thick. When I ...

Just wanted to post a quick note re: the urethane Dtrain sent my way. It took a few experiments, but I'm pretty happy with where things are at. I did not really find that the moisture content of the wood reacted to cause excessive bubbling, as Dtrain did. Flaming is quite effective, primarily becaus...

Current draw from the blanket is only around 7.5A, so should be safe.

Here's my blanket calc, showing only 907Watts:

good news, thanks!

and the current is also okay/not important? Controller says output is 20mA or less, relay says input current at max voltage is </= 12mA.

Heat Controller

Couple of quick question re: the heat controller: Are my SSD and PID compatible? I've attached some photos of the instruments, as well as their accompanying documentation, for reference. It looks to me like the SSD is good in terms of voltage, but may not be able to handle the output current of the ...

good thought. I was thinking along the same lines, (wanted to do 4-6), but the numbers worked nicely, with the wire I found at the guage I wanted. I ordered the wire today, so I'll report back, once things are all fired up.

8 parallel circuits, with 4 lengths of wire each circuit.

i was going to pick it up from jacobs online (cat. number NW28500). 500ft for $17, seems pretty good.

thanks for checking over the numbers.

About to pick up the resistance wire for this. If someone wants to check my numbers/comment, that would be greatly appreciated. i've copied the calculations to the 'Note' column, so that you can see all calculations. let me know if you want the spreadsheet file. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7383/99...

you have to register for mac rhino. They're still calling it work-in-progress, but it's quite refined. You shouldn't run into any issues, doing skis, as the missing capabilities are usually pretty advanced. I haven't run into any stability issues.
