If you have the circle that is the sidecut radius of the ski, the running length is a secant whose midpoint is x mm above the edge of the circle. [x is the sidecut of the ski. Ie in a symmetrical ski it's the width of the tip minus the width of the waist, divided by two. (as it turns out I neglecte...

http://i359.photobucket.com/albums/oo37/n8myton/_20091116_23034909.jpg i tried to make it clear. hey that's a big-headed smiley you got there! I am not shure if I understand the problem... effective edge is just another name for the length of the sidecut in a straight line, running length is the le...

are you aware that skevik is a typical scandinavian name for a place at the coast with very little snow and not necessarily good skiing terrain? (vik=small bay) part from that, everything looks very nice. I think you will find that there is no need for plastic walls, hard wood is just as strong (and...

Will belt transmition affect precision much? My CNC has x-axis engines sticking out on each side of the bridge: http://photos-c.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs253.snc1/10029_103939269616357_100000008543392_117674_4451971_n.jpg ' Your design looks a lot sleeker for fitting into small workshops, getti...

Inserts are great for skis. There is no hole pattern standard for alpine (as with snowboard- and telemark bindings) that is probably the only reason it is not being used. I and several others build skis with inserts, and there are hardly any downsides to it. (a CNC is definately best) http://photos-...

All skis and boards are different throughout the whole length. I measure every 100mm of the ski, that makes 16 segments of every ski, 12 on boards. This is, however too complex to be useful for most people. that is why we simplify the curves into the SFI or SBFI for snowboards. this is a row of 5 nu...
