Personally I would not depend on the pumps. The last time I used them the hardener pump would always have a bubble in the chamber. When I started weighing the parts I had a .10 oz error on the light side for the hardener. I also found that I had way more waste when I used the pumps, because I was st...

My parts came in for my vacuum press Friday and I was able to put it together Saturday. It hasn’t snowed in a week or two so staying home and working on this was a good thing. I’m using the Project V2 set up with my 20 gal compressor that I already have. It took me a couple of hours to prep everythi...

Here’s a new one for you. Think comp-sand. Have a look at this link. This is a very long thread on this site, but worth the read just for the simple ideas/tech you can develop. Look for the stuff by Bert_Burger. He’s the one putting the ideas out here. http://www.swaylocks.com/forum/gforum.cgi?post=...

Hi, just wanted to share a few thoughts after reading the article. One comment made “why sintered UHMWPE. It doesn’t work.” (endre). My understanding is the sintering is a production process as apposed to extruding, and makes the material stronger/more durable. So buying and using sintered base shou...

I'm getting ready to make my tool for profiling using my thickness planer. I was wondering if anyone has had issue with the part charttering/moving around on the bed of the tool. The grabber screw tips to hold the part is a good idea. I was also trying to come up with a way to use the vacume to hold...

I plan to build the V2 venturi pump soon. They have a kit with all of the parts except the PVC pipe and end caps. The price is right and all available in one place.

I have been getting some fabrics here. They have always been good to work with. It is a boat building site. http://www.raka.com/ They list lots of biaxial fabrics and only one 22 oz triaxial fabric. I have used a 17 oz. biaxial fabric w/no mat that is two layers of loosely knitted together unidirect...

I have been reading this with great interest, and was wondering which brands of base material you guys are using and if that would make a difference. I have Durasurf available here locally, but would look else where if this is a common problem. Has anyone tried to heat treat the plastic before you c...
