not out of the country, so here are some photos, if I remember how ... this is what the beast looks like. The bottom of our cores sit touching the crib. http://lh6.ggpht.com/_WWlE16CVFao/TCJsH_wYPdI/AAAAAAAACJQ/JajehEjw10A/s800/IMG_3702.jpg We found it was important to put shims between the tip and ...

Just my $0.02, but I think it could be much cheaper to buy 2" steel and build a press like mongo or benmtl and others on this forum that I can't think of right now off the top of my head. The press will be much lighter and might be easier to put together/move. I don't think the deflection on a ...

Thanks for sharing this. As for cleaning, we use 200 proof alcohol to clean everything. We started with acetone but the alcohol is better. It isn't nasty to work with at all and it is pretty cheap for a gallon.

I don't want to get into it, but for an extra $67 I bought a pair of praxis skis in their pre-sale (before I started making skis) that I still ski on after 3 ski seasons and are holding up fine. I bet they will hit many more rocks and still keep going next year. There are plenty of other options aro...

The tip and tail profiles look perfect. If you can get into the mtns tomorrow you will be able to find out just how fun they are. Nice work on the first pair.

This is what we do as well. Pretty good results but it isn't flawless. Our tolerance from our last pair of cores was around +/-0.2mm. I think that is acceptable for our building purposes but I would love to have a CNC to get +/-0.005"! I saw some cores that a guy in town CNC'd and they were nic...

can your bandsaw method for profiling cores do the entire length of the core at one time from 2mm to 11mm back down to 2mm? Why are the photos so small? Anyway you can make them larger. I would really like to see the photos on your other page about using the bandsaw in a little bit bigger size. The ...

nice work. The cloth bags are great. I wouldn't put the short piece of wood in the tip and tail. If there are any sharp corners on that piece of wood it will eventually cause the cloth bag to rip there. I would use a second cat track in the tip and tail and use a full length piece of filler woos acr...

the skis look cool. The rubber sidewalls sound interesting but sort of heavy.

Has anyone thought about using base ptex as a sidewall material (park skis maybe?).

those do look great. We get comments on our wood veneer skis as well and they don't look as nice as yours do. Wood sidewalls are fine in my opinion. My brother are fairly hard on our equipment and we have had a lot less sidewall blowouts than our friends with ptex sidewalls (K2, Rossis, 4FRNT's). If...
