im interested in buiding one of those rib-moulds that could be adjusted to different lengths like neil did it. i just don t know how do i have to cover the gaps of the lower mould. do you just use a sheet of steel or aluminium (thickness??) or do you need a second cat-track on the mould saving the l...

..and i found a method to solder resistance wire. i just pressed cable end sleeves around the wire so it was easy to solder them. it holds good without sliding or any problems so far. https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-P63GLwcf3cQ/TxwdC6yhlHI/AAAAAAAAAak/qoiGQCoXAjs/s720/IMG_0549.JPG https://lh4.goo...

I would shoulder your edges but I doubt that caused your arc problem. Sounds like that may be asymmetry in your lAyup...different fibre orientation, use of carbon, etc? i was pretty accurate in this, as i had this problem of fibre orientation before. just two layers of 22oz triax glass on both side...

yes, concave (edges went down, base up)skibum wrote: I'm guessing the shop didn't want to touch a ski with 1mm variation between edges (concave from what I understand) because bases are only 1.3mm think generally and thats a pretty fine line between hitting fibreglass.
We will see how the next ones turn out

just to throw in how i pressed these skis, maybe you lll find the critical point: im tempering the resin 24h - 20°C and 16h - 60°C these are specific temerature cycles given by the manufactors. im pretty accurate with this, im using a pid controller, and do not increase the temperature more than 10°...

i just took a pair of skis out of my press where i noticed the base to concave from edge to edge. the archrise was about 1mm in some spots. my core was ash with abs sidewalls, without any rabbet (space) for edges. i think while pressing, ash, as softest part of the core, got compressed and the abs no...

what saw blades for cutting out skis?
i tried band saw and jig saw. both blades quit their job pretty fast when hitting the glass. jig saw blades for wood didn t even last for about 40cm. band saw was done after half of the ski. i tried now small jig saw blades that have two rows of teeth, one facing downwords the other facing upwards. ...

Re: Grinding stone
From what I gather they shouldn't put the skis on the stone grinder before they've taken a couple of passes on a belt grinder. Go to a place with a pure belt grinder and get the skis flatter. Then you can stone grind if you really feel you need to. yep, that was my suggestion to these guys too. he ...

Hey Sir Orange, to wich shop did you go in Davos? I'm more from the Klosters side and one very good shop is Gotschna sport in Klosters. They are very nice and maybe they can help you with the grinding. I'll be in Davos next week so if I see somebody on an awesome pair of skis I know who it is. :D h...
