We have had some great skiing over the last couple of days. My son loves the board. I can see a bit of discoloration in the tip in the basalt where it has flexed hard.. Hope it is not a sign that the epoxy is not binding with the basalt properly. We will see. Here is a small video from yesterday whe...

Your attention to detail is very inspiring.. I feel like a bit of a hack when I see how perfect your skis are. ;-) Respect!! What is the white layer under your core? Is that a PU layer or something. I sawi it in your earlier pictures from above where there is a white stripe where the core gets thinn...

Your board looks graet like always. Basalt sounds interesting. Did you work with it before? How does it perform? Where can you buy it in small amounts for just a few skis? A few months ago I didn´t find any at the regular suspects r-g, hp-textiles and timeout had only 150g or 235g woven. Thanks, my...

Ok, it is finished.
Came out pretty well.
Maybe a little stiff, But I need a board my son can't break, so I overengineered a little. ;-)
I loved the magnetic cap inserts.. made drilling out the holes a breeze!

I drill 2 holes in the core and insert a dowel in each. I put the dowel in the core and a spot of superglue on the end of it and place the core exactly where I want it. Remove the core leaving the dowel attached to the ski base. In the layup you have to fit the cloth around the dowel, but you are gu...

This is 600mg Basalt.
I am going to leave it bare.

I'll sand the pimpels off and give it a 2 component car clear coat to make it nice and shiny.
I'll post a picture when it is finished.

Did the layup yesterday. https://abload.de/img/009workshop-1841308cbrm.jpg Today was like an early Christmas.. Unpacking. Board looks pretty good.. but not perfect. https://abload.de/img/010workshop-1717344tbda.jpg I have a bit of trouble with waves in the Veneer topsheet. The veneer wasn't flat, an...

I am still a beginner here with 4 pairs of skis, and 2 snowboards (3 rd snowboard layup today .. I hope) I guess I had an advantage that I have pressed about 30 longboards before my first skis, so that hepls a lot with the layup process and finnishing... But skis and boards are more compley with mor...

Last night things wen t a bit better. Though I do tend to over engineer things. I wanted to do the Rabbet for my edge. Up till now I have always done it manually which can be tricky and prone to slips, so I decided to build a Rabbetter.. Er Rabbet machine... It worked very well, though I will make a...

Hmm, My that could be the problem, as I realy noticed a difference after planing the Plywood.
But I suspect it is the bamboo.

Frustrating night in the workshop last night. Reducing the height of the Ply wood turned out to be a problem.. The horrizontal orientated wood comes off in long strips with the planer, and this completely blocked my dust extration system. So I constantly had to stop to unblock everything. I needed t...
