Thanks. Found the video. In the same video he does the layup,it’s interesting that the titanal is not next to the wood core, the CF is. That’s the opposite that I’ve seen on many of the race and higher end skis. Found a few that have the titanal away from the wood core... guess it depend ;) Up...

Going for a race inspired ski. .6mm is typical for a race ski. My atomics have a double layer. The flax is 350gsm (10.3oz) biax. Going for dampness. I have no problem going with 1 layer, just not sure if it should go on the bottom or top. Leaning toward top to aid in binding retention. After my samp...

Section8-titanal
Looking for feedback for those who have used titanal. I made a sample layup about 6in x 8in using 2layers of titanal .6mm thick, bought it from Skilab. Bottom layer used VDS, the top layer didn’t. I wanted to see if VDS helped or not with bonding. Here are the details of the layup: Ptex base Flax ...

On your first layup, put the carbon next to the wood core and the flax over the carbon. Idk how much of a difference it makes but that's what I was told. Also in experiments that I've done having carbon between the flax makes the carbon more resistance to breaking... kind of makes it a bit more supp...

Sorry the pics don't display. Looks like photobucket wants everyone to upgrade their accounts at a cost of $400 to post pics at 3rd party sites. I'm not going to pay that. Back to the topic- the other option I used for applying edges was to use a strip of mdf and make a rabbet cut so the edges can s...

Looking at this post makes me both sad and incredibly angry. F'n photophucket has screwed almost every forum on the internet!!! One of these days I might get around to finding another host for my pics but I don't see myself going to every post I've ever made and updating the links. I really don't h...

Thanks for the tip. Got the bearings locally at E.B. Atmus, Springfield Ma. They specialize in bearings of all kinds. Keep in mind if you need a bearing for anything. https://www.ebatmus.com/ edit: The bearings popped out with a little persuasion. New ones went in pretty easily. Its all back togethe...

I talked to Dave at http://www.fontaineskituning.com/ and he was very helpful. Talked me through on how to dis-assemble the free wheel mechanism. Wasn't very difficult.
