@kevy: they do have supports in the like every 20cm, just not on the farthest points outside...we figured we could save some weight without losing strength.

but an angled picture of the edge bender would be cool. i guess youre just using bearings spaced with a thin washer, right?

where are you buying your stuff? isosport? i might buy some.

i think pvc will be too brittle when exposed to cold temperatures.

have a look at the site of libtech snowboards. they use basaltex instead of fibreglass and some bean-derivate topsheets.
also nidecker snowboards uses recycled base materials for one of their models (the random).

Nidecker builds a snowboard with a base build from scrap material. its called the random...looks really cool and the color scheme is always different.

i think his method of profiling the cores with a modified bandsaw is pretty interesting.
i wonder how accurate that method is.

i dont think that would be a good idea. topsheets are much thinner than base material and wouldnt stand the abuse.
plus, i dont know if they absorb wax like base material does.

as for the heater...we'll be doing some tests on our new carbon heating blankets pretty soon. if everything works out, we'd have a cheap alternative to the silicone blankets.
