Qcm sells a chemical treatment called chemlock 7701. It is a treatment for rubber bonding. http://www.lord.com/Home/ProductsServices/Adhesives/RubbertoSubstrateAdhesivesCoatings/Primers/7701/tabid/4115/Default.aspx I have some but haven't tried it yet. If you want some to try out, let me know. -kelvin

We have a Fontaine hot waxer. I think you can still by belts from Wintersteiger or Sun Valley ski tools. They may also have stones for the edger as well. I haven't used it much, but it looks to be well built and most of the parts look to be 'off-the-shelf' industrial parts. If you or anyone else, ha...

I say 'yes' to fuses. You should at least put a fuse to your controller. Check the spec sheets to see the ratings for your controller and size the fuse accordingly. Putting fuses to your blankets is not a bad idea either. You should size your fuse so you only use 75% of its current rating. For a hea...

I think it does absorb some vibrations, but probably nothing that you can feel. The rubber creates a shear layer for the different materials as they flex. This improves the bonding between materials, especially the metal edges, since it allows things to slide rather than breaking epoxy bonds. -kelvi...

Yes, it is the differential temperature that cause changes in camber. I usually ramp up the temp slowly to allow the material to equilibrate. I start at 90f and bump up the temp by 10f every 15 minutes or so. Once at 130f I usually let it sit for a 20-25 min and bump it up by about 15f. I will then ...

I've made a bunch of skis without tipspacers. I just continue the core all the way. They work really well and are quite durable. I've trashed and abused my 'little wing' skis for about 100 days and I have no problems with delaminating. I've also left them wet in my roof box for several days (for dur...

I use a .25" 2 flute spiral down cut bit at about 15,000 rpm and cutting at 120 ipm. It requires just a little cleaning up after cutting.

As Mike said, avoid up cut bits.

Big Sky, Mt. 1/16-1/20

Anybody going to be at Big Sky? I'm going to be there with some friends from 1/16-1/20 and was wondering if anybody wanted to get some turns. Send me a PM or email.

It's pretty easy to build a balance board. All you need is some 3/4" plywood and a 4" abs pipe. This is only 1-d, but you could probably make a 2-d version with a little more effort. http://www.skibuilders.com/cpg/albums/userpics/10006/DSC_6495.jpg http://www.skibuilders.com/cpg/albums/use...
