I didn't know you could use polyurethane glue for the ptex sidewalls. If I ever start thinking about doing ptex sidewalls I will keep this in mind. Well, you kinda can :) I did a number of bonding tests with it a long time ago. You must sand and flame, just like you would to bond with epoxy, and ev...

those are some sweet clamps you use for the gluing the cores! pretty expensive? Here's the clamps I use to join slices into core blanks, and to re-clamp when inlaying sidewalls: http://www.woodcraft.com/Product/2000321/1858/WoodRiver-Clamping-System.aspx Currently on special for $19.99, normally $2...

Since you were laminating a board with your first veneer top sheet today, I decided the next update to my site should be how I finish my veneer top sheets. Here you go: http://www.happymonkeysnowboards.com/HMS/making-a-monkey/veneer-top-sheets/ I hope this helps you and others out. There’s 16 pictur...

Thanks ben_mtl. New sections on bases, edges, and nose/tail spacers, and on finishing wood veneer top sheets have been added today. There's an RSS feed for the News blog there, and I'll post a note to that blog whenever I make an interesting update to Making a Monkey. I'll post here, too, after ever...

Well, you can order some parts from skibuilders.com, of course, but honestly you just hit the cold hard reality of getting deeper into this stuff. There is no one place for you to go to get all your parts besides snowboardmaterials.com, at least none that I know of. To get stuff in bulk you need to ...

Happy Monkey's process
I've started documenting my entire process in (hopefully!) great detail on my web site here: MonkeyWiki, a guide to snowboard construction I figure people here might be interested in this. If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask in this thread and I'll post an answer, and update the site to re...

Your mileage will likely vary with the type of wood, type of epoxy, and amount of heat. I’ve been using some birds eye maple, ~0.020” thick, no paper backing. The resin bleeds through small pores in the birds eye maple right through to the top, so you end up with epoxy on top even if you didn’t put ...

cool. looks like a pretty high end pricey board with all that carbon fiber and metal! I'm pretty sure all of Donek's metal boards start at $1k. As far as alpine snowboards go, Donek is right up there with Coiler and Prior setting the standard in North America for race boards. This is one of those f...

You would probably be amazed how porous MDF is… you would probably need to seal it very well (many coats of something) in order for it to be a reasonable top surface for a vacuum mold. Most (everyone?) use an aluminum top skin. This is the source for all things vacuum bagging: https://www.airtechonl...

I think you could alter the bit, and using a lathe would be best.
However, why torture yourself? http://www.skibuilders.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1739
If you don't want to get a trimmer with a tilt base, then make your own wedge and attach it to a non-tilt base to achieve the bevel you want.
