Winters have been inconsistent the last few years. Long range forecasts are always wrong as well. But when it's good, it's really good!

I made this pair to show my support for a local organization, Keep Squaw True, that is fighting the ridiculous development plans for Squaw Valley. Unfortunately a few years ago Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows were sold to a company, KSL, that has no idea how to run a ski area. This pair I used the t...

I tried coloring the wood sidewalls of a few pair of skis earlier in the year and now they look like crap. I used a Minwax black stain on some bamboo and first off it didn't penetrate that well and took several coats to even look consistent. I also used a black Sharpie pen on some maple sidewalls an...

I made these a few months ago but realized I didn't put up any pics or build report. Cold Smokes - 135-115-125 with a 27 meter sidecut radius and 185 cm length. Cores are oak, poplar, fir, with maple sidewalls. I didn't rabbet the core and used a cork layer between the edges as filler. I don't think...

Skimann, how were you able to get an account from SVST? Are you affiliated with a shop? I used to order from them when I worked at a shop but they denied me when I tried to get a new account.

I bumped up my epoxy quantity just to be sure I had enough but I didn't really need to. I wet it all out and still had plenty left. Lesson for next time. Each build is still a learning experience. The core to tip spacer stapling worked well. I still suck at getting graphics aligned perfectly though....

I am using the cork for vibration damping and simple filler. I cut it out to fit between the edges going right on top of the base. I also put a layer on top of the plastic tip spacer to match core thickness. This is my first pair using cork so I'll have a follow up after I ski them to see if I can n...

Here's where I got mine from. http://www.cleverbrand.com/default.aspx?CN=3D9103C82BC2

I was unsure if the rubber would bond so I didn't use it. In my test piece there were parts that bonded very well and others not so much.

I'm going to try just the plain cork that I just ordered.

Another pair of park skis for my son. He broke his tails landing switch on his last pair so this pair I used new tip and tail molds to make the tip height much higher measuring about 8 cm. http://i714.photobucket.com/albums/ww150/dohparty/Tomahawk%20full_zpsbts7wqfw.jpg http://i714.photobucket.com/a...

Suction Cups

I profile my sidewalls using the hand router on top of the base method and always used a quick clamp to hold the ski down. The problem is you have to move the clamp(s) out of the way at least once to do the whole ski. I found some suction cups that work well for securing the ski that stay out of the...

That's the router I use too but didn't know you could buy the tilt base separately. $30 from Amazon. Done! No more changing bases.
