Re: Scrap Ski Base Material

I ripped cnc cut leftovers on the table saw into long strips taped um next to one another and made a set of skis from them. Kinda labor intensive. Worked fine.
I have a big stack.

Might want to call voile usa. They might buy it. Or roll off 10lb mini spools and sell those at a profit.

Re: Making it big?

I looked at ramp at sia in 2015. They were trash. Not well made at all. Mediocre geometry and strange design choices. Ugly graphics. They didn't seem to have a clear path to 'their' target client base. They touted a bunch of 'green' tech that was all talk and no fact. On3p is the only potentially su...

Re: Could you make a pneumatic bladder from scratch?

Plasticpress where in the world are you located? Edit: i see Guatemala. How bout a mil base old fire hose? Buying used fire hose and having it shipped has got to be a better option. If the bladder fails while ur pressing you are out hundreds of $ in materials and tens of hours of your time. Don't re...

Re: Here we go- Another ski press build thread

I tested a single 6 inch hose to 70 psi. Others pressed 2 and 3 bladder systems. No issues.
Yes the nylon stretches a bit but in the elasticity is where the strength is derived.

Re: Pre-treating paulownia or balsa core

I know u think I'm crazy but a super thin water based poly topcoat would seal and be porous to accept epoxy and good for bonding in all my tests. Cheap, quick and easy.

Re: Expert forum: QCM epoxies (Questions answered!)

Micro balloons and carbon black are additives in toughened epoxies. Cotton chips sounds like it could increase viscosity and prevent penetration to the thick fiberglass tows used in the 22oz and heavier glass weaves. It's also not completely necessary. The quality of the newest epoxy coatings is ver...
