gathering of the tribes

I've been thinking a lot lately about trying to put together a gathering of folks. I'm sure this needs it's own thread, but thought this would be a good place to test for interest. Anyhow, I know winter is a sacred time for most of us. I was thinking spring-season. I could probably host an east-coas...

I get a good laugh out of politicians talking about "small business" growth, as we've all discovered, you pretty much have to already be successful to start your own business, especially if you think you actually want to employ someone... but that's another thread. Des nailed it, if they w...

honeycomb - Last-a-foam

Hey twizz... I'm lucky enough to have a fair amount of both honeycomb and last-a-foam lying around to play with. I remember being told that the honeycomb was tougher to machine, so this week I started playing around a bit with the last-a-foam with some "spare time" (hahaha). Anyhow, I foun...

I've dealt with this in the past myself, it's a bummer for sure. I ended up building a matching "mini-core", about 10cm longer than the deck on each end, take about a 4mm slice off with a table/uni saw, plane and sand out your taper and there you go. It's not the quickest solution, but it'...

I've been using Meguiar's Mirror Glaze maximum mold release wax for a few years now, works great every time. There's always a bit of clean-up, but extremely minimal.

fast orange

I find fast orange works pretty good. I'd avoid the acetone though, you're better off with the epoxy on your skin then that stuff soaking in to your nervous system / organs.

I'm looking forward to playing around with the entropy stuff on the next few pairs.

Remember to use a torque limiting screwdriver to set your screw gun's clutch to 4 nm, unless you're mounting BD tele bindings, then ramp it up to 10 nm. If you're mounting an alpine set up you probably also want to... Be sure and check your forward pressure once the mount is complete. Then you shoul...

I'll echo falls... I too spent the bulk of this past season on a traditionally shaped, tip and tail rocketed ski. About 110 underfoot, with a radius right around 20M. They were my goto skis all year, (mostly hard-pack, groom, ice, etc...) and were hands down the favorite demo pair too. The tip rocke...

Sorry for the delayed response. The apex would be in the underfoot area with the "arms" running towards the tip, and reaching the sides of the ski roughly at your point of contact. I do the same in the tail, using the same apex spot. I find this gives a nice boost to the torsional stiffnes...

I'll lend my support for the 20oz glass as well. I've been using some 24oz lately, and prefer the lighter stuff for sure. On the carbon front, I use multiple strips of 3mm-5mm wide in varying lay-outs, depending on the end result I'm looking for. For example, I'll often run strands in a "V"...

I would go wider, rather than longer... the 5D shape (DPS, S7, etc...) isn't the best idea for a true POW specific pair, so I'd stick with a traditional side cut, but go ahead and rock out the tip and tail, if you can. Also, you can blow out the radius a bit for a true pow ski, don't be afraid of th...
