Look at Tyrolia. I have a pair of Fischer AMC 79 that came w/ Tyrolia bindings that I bought from a ski shop on the internet. The plate was already mounted. Mounting the bindings to the plate is extremely easy and it all came w/ directions from the factory. Takes only minutes. But you'll need to mou...

Not really. I'm not an engineer and don't pretend to be one. I looked at a lot of other presses in the forum. Also talked to some builder friends of mine and one who is a mechanical engineer. I told them the amount of pressure I'd be using (around 40 psi). They are the ones who said I'd need a steel...

Since the hardest part I had was figuring out how to make an adjustable top form I thought I'd post on how I made mine. I got the basic idea from the design of how dining room tables expand. With that as the basic idea here's how I made the top adjustable form. ( btw - here's a website I use to conv...

Another Ski Press is Born

Here’s my ski press in progress. It’s almost done. A couple more nights/weekends worth of work and it should be complete. I’ll post more pics when it’s completed. What I’ve learned is to research and plan as much as possible, which I did and this forum was a tremendous help. Thanks to everyone who h...

Thanks for the info. I have a pair of Volk P50 188cm and they are the stiffest ski I've had in years. I'm about your size and really need to lean into them. If the "race skis" I'm making come out decent I'll retire the P50's.

You don't need any pointers. That is a great repair. I'm going to save this post for future reference. My biggest fear of making skis is getting all the way to end, cutting away the flashing and the router slips and makes a gouge that could ruin all the hard work. Nice to know how to make a repair l...

Stepping it up to the podium...

Very professional looking. The real deal. I'm making a race ski as well for myself 177cm dim 112/66/96. Actually I'm making 2. One is solid maple and the other is solid ash. I'm curious if there will be much difference in how the skis handle with different cores. The core thickness is 11mm. If you d...

I found this post... http://www.skibuilders.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1418&highlight=fabric+topsheet In th epost above BigKam peeled away the topsheet to the graphic layer underneath. Then applied a new graphic over the old graphic using epoxy. Then used parchment paper over the new graphic and...

We didn't use a topsheet, and the fiberglass bent nicely around the corner, and bonded to the glass under the core. The key here was to make sure that the base (with edges on) is a little wider than the core so that there is space for the top glass layer to bond to th e bottom glass layer and seal ...

Mattman - Thanks for the advice. I'm in the process of making a pneumaitc press similar to the type many in the forum have made. Wasn't planning on capping the skis for my first time. But if I can do it w/ the type of press I have I'll give it try. So sounds like I'm on the right track. I don't want...

Jack-UK-Rider - Thanks for the info. btw - since we on the subject of different types of skiing surfaces... There's a ski area in New Hampshire, USA called Tenney Mt. Two or 3 years ago they were making snow in the summer. I think it was about a 200 foot stretch. From what I heard it they'd make sno...
