MR you are quite right and I also subscribe to KISS and have about read a bucket load of issues with overheating SSR's on this and other forums. Given all that through I am still an advocate for them with the correct application. With my setup, insulated box oven with a SSR compatible CAL controller...

Try and find a used Eurotherm or CAL controller that is SSR compatible

Two well established companies that are used in industry.

I got a really good deal on ebay for mine ;)

In the Datasheet for the epoxy I use it sais that the optimal hardness is reached after 7 days at 23 degrees. However this can be shortened and they recommend. Optimal Temperature cycle: 24h/23°C + 5h bei 60°C + 6h bei 80°C. In the past I have normally just cooked things for a few hours and they se...

Nice, but with regard to the cure time: Do your own testing on the resin you use but I tested mine (lab tested) with different cure cycles and there is essentially no difference (or slightly better properties) from cooking straight away rather than waiting the 24hrs then cooking. I found a dwell at ...

It's a bugger when that happens, treat it as a learning experience and an (expensive) lesson, then utilise them as a bit of wall art, a bit of funky furniture or as akiwi said, a shot glass tray would be cool :)

:) Or just design it to British and European structural design codes EN1993-1-8 (with all relevant 1990, 1991 and other 1993 codes - gawd I hate Eurocodes!)or BS 5950-1-2000 Even if you're European or American the older British Standard BS5950 is great for bolted connection design (plastic design me...

Except press fitting bolts normal bolts are not designed for shear!!! For shear the bolts should clamp the two surfaces well (they should also be not painted and not too smoth) so the surfaces create the friction against shear. For this you need 10.9 or better.... Not quite true, a bolted connectio...

So after a week of printing on white vinyl and photo paper to make sure the thing worked and getting to know the RIP I decided to break out the clear topsheet First trial prints done on Duraclear, next step is to do some bonding tests, then many, many more test prints getting the print settings corr...

I normally infuse with Huntsman Araldite LY1564 & Aradur 3487 combo, very LOW viscosity of 200-300mPa.s, 2hr+ pot life, 80degC cure temp (175degF) I've also used my normal laminating resin Huntsman LY/HY 5052 combo heated slightly to around 30degC (80-90degF) to LOWER the viscosity from 500-1000...

Also, as you are of the southern flatland persuasion, if you ever get up to Bristol then pop in and see Wiz at Matrix ( http://www.matrix-composites.co.uk/ ) explain what you want and see what he's got on the shelf, last time I was there he had 100mm wide rolls of triax carbon

Nice! It looks like you have a good layout and flow to the space too. How many sqft is the factory? One of the biggest thing we have been (and continue) to work on is production flow/efficiency and lean manufacturing. We've made a lot of improvements there, but still some improvements to go. Everyt...

That stuff is THICK!!! You couldn't wetlay that I use Huntsman LY 5052 / Aradur 5052 and LY1564 / Aradur 3487 They noth have a 2hr pot life so theirs no need to rush but I also don't mind a long cure time so that isn't a criteria for me at the moment. They do other resins which have a faster cure ti...

Do you intend on doing a topcoat of epoxy with mylar/release film then? I read (maybe wrongly by the sound of it) that you wanted to apply a clear coat topcoat (like durepox / spray clearcoat) hence my suggestion to use an air based heat chamber. If you intend on using a heat blanket applied directl...
