Try flipping your base over so you can see the gap. There are a few on here doing it this way. (edge tangs underneath) I'm still a tang on top guy. And ya bending edges takes a fair bit of practice to get right, that's why the majority of us only do 3/4 wrap. I try to get my edges so they will sit i...

Idea's been around for a while. Gotta say it might work as the new magic damping everone is hoping for.

I didn't mean for the tip to be that wide - I had 135 as my target but somehow cocked it up.

I'm guessing you forgot to factor in the fact that edges are gonna add ~4mm to your overall width.

Cores are pretty straightforward... Pick 3 nice 1x4's (25x100mm) Glue the flat sides together. Run thru the tablesaw or use a hand plane to get 1 nice edge in the block. (This runs on your fence on table saw) Rip the block into 17-20mm strips. (You should end up with 4 pieces, each containing 3 glue...

It's been a while so thought I'd update you all on the progress so far. When we bought the house a buddy and I salvaged a fair bit of lumber from some old buildings they were tearing down at the saw mill where he works. Mostly old fir 2x8s all about 11' long. I needed a shed to store all the yard cr...

Hot glue!!! Clamp your board down flat to your table and hot glue the perimeter. Don't have to have a solid bead, glue a couple inches leave a couple inches, like stitches. Leave a spot to check thickness of board at the middle and end of your profile length. Just gotta be careful when removing it, ...

Haven't had a delam yet in the few pair I've done.
I usually hand sand with 120g then flame.
Good way to use up scraps.
A single layer is the perfect thickness for kids skis.
Machining the cores that thin is a different story.

I did this on my last core, unfortunately it exploded on the finishing pass with the router. I used 24k carbon tow between the wood. It was very hard on the planer knives after planing the rough cores down (to the proper thickness to start with the router) the new knives were gouged and tearing the ...
