Re: Jonrezz’s Build Log
For a lot of the cheap pumps a lot of smoke is completely normal. Run i hose out the window or run it through a filter. You don't want to breath that not want you to have oil mist on anything you want to bond afterwards...

Having the cork exposed isn't an issue. Have done that on my snowboard last year and it worked well.

Re: Polyester fleece or fleecing a carbon fiber ski
The point is not just to have a resin rich layer, but to have a smoother transition in the stiffness between different layers to reduce shear stress.
For the same reason it is best practice to have the +/-45° layers inbetween the UD and the core.

Re: Polyester fleece or fleecing a carbon fiber ski
My local supplier has a 30gsm glass veil that works well, but it really shouldn't make much of a difference what exactly you use as long as it has a decent bond with epoxy and will form a resin rich bond line.

FFC 2019
I missed to make a build series on here, but i took a couple of pictures of the final boards i built for my girlfriend and my godchild. There is some more info in the "Need some help with kid snowboard" thread in the design and layup section for the little board. http://www.skibuilders.com...

Re: Veneer and clear topsheet bubble elimination
Bit of a detour but i made a veneer behind topsheet snowboard that turned out crystal clear no bubbles with vacuum infusion. Basically you stack the topsheet, veneer and the reinforcement fibres, then peel ply and a flow media, vacuum bag it, and then do the infusion. After curing you have a laminat...

Why you dont make the inserts shorter? And .... 0.6mm more length for the inserts will be absorbed by your fibres (depending on the fibre weight) The inserts come with a cap which is handy, the small step in the thickness will not increase the overall flex anyway as this area is much stiffer with t...
