Finally my entire press including molds is ready and tested 8) So again time for some pictures! This is the design of my top mold, I made it the same as my bottom mold. It's easy to replace tip, tail or the camber part. All parts are mounted to bottom (top) plate using small wooden block with a hole...

What do you think about this kind of insert? Will the hex hole in the bottom be a problem? They have a M6 hole inside (or larger) and are at least 10 mm high. http://www.groene-engel.com/Buuk/Skibuilders/Rampa%20insert.jpg Also please tell me if any of you needs metric screws. It's the standard syst...

What kind of Titebond do you use?

TITEBOND ORIGINAL WOOD GLUE
TITEBOND II PREMIUM WOOD GLUE
TITEBOND III ULTIMATE WOOD GLUE

What about Bison glue? Anyone of you knows and/or uses this?

Thanks, Buuk

Worked a lot on my molds and bladder last weekends. So time to share some pics. Finally the steel edges have arrived. http://www.groene-engel.com/Buuk/Skibuilders/9.jpg Close up of the steel edges http://www.groene-engel.com/Buuk/Skibuilders/10.jpg Testing the bladder http://www.groene-engel.com/Buu...

Sorry for the little explaination in the PDF file, but I'm very busy at the moment. If you would like to stay in a safe zone I would recommend to use absolutely no higher pressure than 60 PSI (about 4 bar). And believe me, this is already an incredible amount of force at your press. As you mentioned...

@Bambi: The force created by the bladder will not be devided over the top and bottom piece. For example when the bladder is at 5 bar, the force created by this pressure will work at the top AND at the bottom (just like a pressure vessel, in which there is the same pressure working at all sides). So ...

Please don't take this as critic on your design, because I'm only trying to help you!! :) 1/2", so about M12 in the metric system. I assume you have class (or grade, don't know the correct word) 8.8 for the threaded rod then you can use the next calculation: You want to have the tensile stress ...

The "wooden press" costed me about 100 - 120 euro. If I would have to buy the metal for the "metal press" it would cost me about 200 euro. But maybe the steel prices are different where you are living.

The press with the wood is cheaper, becauese it does not require a lot of metal which is quite expansive. I think you won't see a difference in final result.
