I was once told that Volkl mills their cores with the camber built in. Makes sense to me. I was actually considering an attempt at the same thing some time down the line. I see the logic in weakness with fiber ends, but having the core under no tension when the ski is at rest seems valuable to me to...

Re: Polyester resins. I also have been told that when my granite counter tops are destined for use in a humid environment or if a shower surround is built from granite that true epoxy is the superiour adhesive. Apparently the polyester is not as tolerant of moisture. I'm not bagging on you for using...

I use polyester resin everyday in fabricating granite counter tops. I have some consern that the polyester is too brittle when cured for use in skis. I will be ordering regular epoxy for my build even though I have 2 5 gallon buckets of polyester sitting in my shop. The work time on polyester is ver...

I purchased the steel. The recycler who sold it to me cut the beam in half, so I don't have that headache. I have a question about 2-ski presses though. Do you have an outlet hole, or trough between the two skis for overflow epoxy? Is pooling between the skis an issue that I need to be aware of? I j...

So far I have used vendors listed on the links page that the Kams have provided. What a great resource! I just received my Durasurf base material. They require a minimum order of 50 ft and sold me the color of my choice from thier remnant stock at the same price as black. Total was $70.46 including ...

critique my ski press design.
http://photos.wakeboarder.com/data/500/medium/ski_press.JPG I found a 1/2" thick 5"x16" I beam at the scrap yard that is 16 feet long. It will cost me around $100US. I have the angle laying around. I expect 16" wide to be wide enough to build a cassette two skis wide. I intend t...

Edge material & VDS rubber
Are all you Kam's still purchasing edge metal from Snowboardmaterials.com? Is there another source? I have not yet called SBM.com but I've read ski companie's brag sheets that tout thicker harder "rockwell steel" edges. Can better edge materail be had than is available through SBM.com? I s...

That makes sense. To be honest I was trying to avoid building the profiling jig because I am so excited to get a pair in the press that I didn't want to spend the time on the jig. I now know that it will be a necessary tool and will endeavor to build one asap. Any revisions on the original plans for...

Buttcrackers......
Buttcrackers...... How did they end up performing after a tune? The dimensions look like what I'd like to try for my first build & I'd love to hear some updated feeback. I would also enjoy hearing opinions from those with experience about flex profiles. Are y'all still shortening the platform un...
