If I hadnt just paid for my airfares and accommodation for next year's Japan trip this would be on the radar. http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/joondalup/other-tools-diy/-carbitec-wide-belt-sander-great-condition-/1044800523 That one on ebay is even better but is a bit far for me to drive. There was a ...

nice work BTW you press can be easily modified to insert cassette normally Was just thinking the same thing. My original press was designed similar to yours and I very quickly realized it was a pain to use. You just need to add some decent supports at the ends and a couple of very sturdy beams alon...

I dont use it for core profiling. I use a profile router set up. Its just for cleaning up planks before glueing up for core blanks and cutting them down to thickness when all glued together. A big belt or drum sander would be awesome but big sanders are real expensive around here - like about $2000 ...

The 13 inch unit.
Both of them are used machines and the 15" machine is less than half new price and looks like new. Both have good condition blades and look like they have been looked after.

which thicknesser?
Hey folks I have a question on thicknessers. I am buying a new one as my little hardware shop one was not doing very well with the width of snowboard cores. I have two available at good prices. 1. A 13" spiral cutter with 2.3hp motor. 2. A 15" straight cutter with 3 blades and 3hp motor. T...

Hey folks. Anybody here using the sestos PIDs? Im trying to find a way to set up a ramp in the heating. At the moment I just set the temp to 50'c then after 15 minutes turn set them to 80'. This isnt much of a problem but a controlled ramp takes out one more variable. The little instruction sheet th...

Probably don't need to get too caught up with chasing huge numbers for elongation at break. Why would you need 500% for the sidewall when wood has only about 2%. If you have 10% elongation at break then your board will crack through the core before you break the sidewall. The change in epoxy with te...

MM, I think that's the point I was trying to make. Sidewalls can't be getting put to the point of 100, 200, 300% elongation as the wood core just wouldn't hold up to that, plus the fact wood sidewalls are a common option suggests that skis and boards just aren't put to that sort of stress. That said...

I have some epoxy that is 65 shore, not brittle at all and costs only $160 for 6 kilo. Sounds interesting. What shore scale is that hardness on (A or D)? I had it wrong in the first post, it is 65D. Did some test runs and definitely harder than 65A. Probably could be better if a little softer really.
