After years of hemming-n-hawing I finally bit the bullet and made a GS style racing ski. Spent yesterday skiing on it (12/28) . It happened to be a bitter cold day, 0F. Snowbase was hard with loose snow on top. No idea what the wind chill was.

Ski specs:
180cm
116-68-100
Ash core
Ipe sidewall
Entropy resin
Flax
Titanal
Topsheet Makore
Weight - 7lbs 4oz combined, no bindings. I thought that was pretty light.
Camber about 5 mm

No problem with titanal bonding. I used a 2 3/4 inch wide strip on top of the wood core. I thought a strip on the bottom might be too much. But I think if I make another pair I’ll add one on the bottom also.

It skied really nice. It engaged the top of the turn real nice and exited nice as well. Held very good on hard pack. I also skied on my Atomic Redster that day for a comparison. The major difference is the weight. The Atomic is much heavier giving it a little smoother ride. Perhaps a UVO weight like Volk uses might help.

Either way it skied we’ll and I’ll get a lot of use out of it. Perhaps race on it too.
