they've also been doing that with their snowboards since they started makin the bonfire line in 1995-1996, so i suppose they have had it in their skis that long too.
they say it makes for more pop in the nose and tail, it pre-fractures the glass a little during the second pressing but causes them to resist more when placed under load.

that's just what they say though, my guess is like you said its just a simpler initial layup

which ski is the white Armada with black stripes? it looks like it has some early rise in the tip? If you happened to look closely at the moment skis (or if anyone else knows the answer) about how long is the rise on the reno rockers?
