quick touring around lake tahoe?

Post by bigKam »

I will be in the Reno area the next four days. Can someone recommend a quick ski tour in the local mountains? Just want to get out to stretch my legs...

thanks.

Hey Kam,

I don't know the Reno area very well myself, but if you feel like pasting your post over to telemarktips, I bet you'll get some good suggestions right away. There's lots of Reno/Tahoe folks at t-tips... some even reasonably civil. :)

BK,
How long are you here for? Want to head out on Monday? Let me know.
I'll be at the resort (sierra at tahoe) on Sunday with the kids.
Ralston is good.
Pyrmid looks great, bit of a travel though.
I can only guess that Talac is great right now.
Also numerous areas out Hwy 88 (kirkwood area) for touring.

Thanks for the info guys! Unfortunately, I leave on Sunday morning. I'll have a quick look around though. I'll be in area more frequently in the near future....

I spend a year way back in the 80's in Squaw Valley. Now I'm living on the swedish west coast (no snow, no mountains) trying to build skis...how smart am I?
Why didn't I go back /stay...don't even think ask that question!

Ski for me please!

Stenmark, I think you just need to come up to Norrland. I took a ski tour from my front door last weekend. :)

Greg,
I'm sorry to say, but I am from Norrland! I know the feeling. You must be living inland?
I just don't know what I'm doing down here...(swedish west coast)? In winter, no snow, just wet and dark dark dark...:-(

Sorry guys this has nothing to do with LT, but need to come out

I guess I should have qualified my remark about "touring out the back door"... I consider a "successful" ski tour as getting at least 50m of total vertical, including 1 turn. But, where I am living, that usually means about 10 km of touring, and the turn is usually one really long (10 km) circle. :)
Want skis Better, Cheaper, Faster and much much Cooler... build your own.
