Hi Skibuilders,

first of all i would like to thank you for this fantastic Site. It gave me a great support for getting started with building my own!!!!

Here are the first pics:

The Ski is a Spatula like inverse sidecut with zero camber and a 25cm long shovel. Dimensions are: 125/130/120 length 183cm.

Well done.
What are the black stripes on the topsheet? Carbon fiber reinforcement?

Yes, this is Carbon UD Tape. It is just used on the top side of the ski to increase the stiffness. The laminate is composed of:

1. 395g/m2 glass fabric
2. 400g/m2 biaxial glass
3. Woodcore (Fir) with Airex foam tip
4. 400g/m2 biaxial glass
5. 395g/m2 glass fabric
6. 220g/m2 UD glass tape and carbon tape

Everything has been vaccum pressed.

Right now there is no topsheet (Tear-off fabric still in Place) - the Ski will be covered with Black Epoxy.

nice job, Alex! those are huge! i'm really interested in how your foam tip works out. let us know how they ride when you get the chance.

Yes - this ski is just made for deep Powder - so i wanted to be shure that's it got enough surface. Last winter there were some days i was almost drowning with my 168cm Voelkl Gotama.
Here's a comparision to my Gotama and a 163cm Sugar Daddy:

The Tip is made from 3mm Airex C70.75. Seems to be a great stuff for this and harmonizes well with the wood. Bending the ski shows a constant elastic curve. The shovel is a cap construction. I was inspired by the Sugar Daddy for this design....

Here's a quick update about the further testing:

After the inital test at Fieberunn (see Trip reports) i had the chance to ride them for another 2 days. The last test was last weekend with almoust all conditions you can expect while freeriding. I skied a 1400m descent several times that started with hard windblown surface and dune like structures and suncrust, went on with deep snow treeskiing (including some small 2m cliffdrops) and finally ended on the slopes.

The ski performed very well on the hard surface with good edge grip (despite the super soft shovel). There is no tendency to catch an edge while breaking through the crust. Between the trees the floatation was awesome and it was agile enough to catch the quick turns. Skiing on the slopes is still a difficult thing and i experienced to sudden falls when not taking enough attention :-(

The structure is still solid - no delamination or other damages yet. The testing was quite hard with speeding on hard surface and dropping small cliffs. The foam shovel still is in very good condition - no fatigue and good damping.
